The Farm hits the Farm

Published by Julia Stainton at 5:57 am under Card Designs, Copics, Cornish Heritage Farms

I was really excited to get my hands on this latest Thomas Kinkade image from Cornish Heritage Farms. I have treasured memories of spending every Saturday at my grandparent’s farm during my growing up years. The barn especially held a fascination as there were always kitties to discover and believe it or not, we just liked those cows. Sunset at Riverbend Farms is a beautiful image that brings to mind the beauty of rural living. I have a couple designs to share using it today as it looks beautiful in black and white or in color.

Dairy Barn

I have to admit, this first design in my favorite. I’m seriously lovin’ Jenni Bowlin these days and I did a major search to find these darling chipboard buttons that I had. Aren’t they perfect with the barn?!

Supply List:

Stamps: Sunset at Riverbend Farm (Thomas Kinkade line) by CHF
Ink: Black Memento by Tsukineko, Brushed Corduroy Distress ink by Ranger
Paper: Black & Kraft cardstock by Bazzill, Simply Smooth white cardstock by CHF, patterned paper by Jenni Bowlin
Other: twill tape, chipboard buttons by Jenni Bowlin, sewing machine

I have no idea why, but I just could NOT get a clear photo of this project. It was totally fun to color with my Copics. I know a lot of people are nervous about coloring these images but truly…I’d much rather color them than very open images. It’s so easy to refer to the painting on the label and get some great results.

Take care!

As usual you’re designs capture my heart! I love the stamps TK stamps but have no idea how to paint them they look so detailed. Yours look like the original painting.

what great cards! I love the addition of the burlap on the one - it really adds to the overall country feel of the card. the shape and buttons on your first card are wonderful!

and my winning package arrived over the weekend! thank you so very much for the stamps! can’t wait to play with a little Christmas! maybe it will make things feel a bit cooler until Fall arrives! ;)

Oh Wow it looks great either way, love how the red frames it so neatly on the first one, and the coloring is great on the second, and the framing brings all the attention to it!

These are beautiful… I loved my grandparent’s barn, too. The smell of hay - a kitten here and there - old farm trinkets in the nooks and crannies. Thanks for the fabulous flashback today. :)

Oh shoot! I just got my summer challenge order too. Should have held off for a few more days before finalizing that order. Dog gone it! Need to go check and see if it’s a vingette or full size. Beautiful samples Julia. Personally, I like the colored one. :)

These are both great! The T. Kincade stamps are so detailed, I’ve been afraid I couldn’t get them to ink well. Do you have any tips for getting them covered? Thanks!

Oh your cards are so pretty! These big old barns remind me of my home state of Michigan, I think I can even smell the hay! Thank you for sharing.
