Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive {C’est Bon}

I love this glue. I honestly did not think I’d like it. My SIL from Alberta told me on her last visit to Ontario that I should try it. Well….I bought it. And there it sat! From last October until this past June. Nine whole months. I thought it would be messy. I thought it would take too long to dry. But I have to tell you…I tried it and now I love it!!! I still like my Mono tape runner. It is handy and quick but I got sooo tired of designs falling apart. Really….after all the work I put into designing them…shouldn’t they deserve to stay together?!!! Actually, I also got very tired of spending large amounts of $$$$ on the tape adhesive. This glue is way more cost effective and does a better job. Thanks so much for that tip Elizabeth! The Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive is manufactured by 3M.

What I like about this glue…

  • dries quickly…the way I work, it has to!
  • inexpensive
  • doesn’t make glue lines on the paper
  • doesn’t come apart! Biggie reason here!
  • easy to hold, easy to dispense
  • acid free
  • non-toxic
  • photo safe
  • nice fine dispenser tip
  • a little goes a long way
  • large quantity lasts a long time - 2 fl.oz.
  • works well on cardstock, patterned paper, chipboard, meta, plastic
  • doesn’t interfere with machine stitching over it
  • easy to unclog - OK I’ll come clean…I’ve left the lid of and clogged it. I was worried. But…it was so easy to unclog.. The glue forms a smooth silicone-line plug that just slides out.
  • non-toxic
  • Cleans up with soap and water… LOL Keep reading. :) I’m experienced.

How to Use It

So easy…simple squeeze out a small amount of glue around the edges of your paper… :)

Words to the wise…

I couldn’t finish this entry without warning you. Now you didn’t think you were going to get a laugh out of this entry, did you?! Well…my word of warning. If you glue clogs up…do NOT squeeze it up while you are looking down! The intense pressure just may cause the whole entire lid to come off and spray glue into your hair and eyes. Of course…this is just hypothetical. It would never have happened to me! ;) Or would it?! LOL Under normal use (by normal people…not me of course) the lid stays on perfectly well…no issues! It only comes off it you try and squeeze it to death while clogged. A picture? No… I was too busy trying to rescue my eyes! LOL

Where to buy…

I try and include a source when I do these articles. I buy mine in person at the Scrapbook Studio. OK…I’ve had a lot of great feedback! Thanks! In the US, you can purchase this product at Wal-mart, Joann’s, Office Max, Drug Mart. :) Still looking for more Canadian Sources. :)

I started using this glue about 3 months ago and I absolutely love it.
A friend and I were stamping today and she is going to try it as well.

    Hi Julia,
I tried this glue too and would compare it to Tombow mono-multi; Works great and dries fast! I had the same problem as you though, although mine was pointing down and sprayed all over my desk! The bottle I had was bigger than 2 oz; I’ll definitely look for it in that size!

I read about this glue somewhere on SCS and bought it. I love it and use it every time I stamp. My bottle is the 4 oz size….the only one I found.

I am a glue nut and will try this. Have to say, though, my ATG is soooooo great that I use it for most everything I can!

I just read some where how good this is for altering clipboards? I just bought some yesterday, but have not tried it yet. Thanks for the tip about the tip! That is the kind of stuff that happens to me, lol. Glad it is washable!

I have been using this glue for about a year, and LOVE it! It is so ecoomical and pretty easy to find here. Our Office Max, Drug Mart and JoAnn’s carries it. Oh, and it doesn’t wrinkle when adhering patterned paper. I haven’t had your “splurt” problem, though, so guess I’m lucky! I know people who will try it ‘cuz you recommend it will be happy with it.

Julia, I LOVE this glue!!! Jen del Muro got me started (hooked) on it and now it’s all i use. There is a learning curve with it to not use too much as a friend of mine did and her cards became very warped!! i love the stiffness it gives to the finished card when used sparingly. it just seems to give it a nice quality feel, like not just slapped together junk! oh and the purple lid part falling apart–can’t say it blew up in my face, but i have ruined a project or two when it catapulted out of the bottle along with mucho glue after squeezing it too hard!! i keep a straight pin handy to unclog it now—my lesson learned! thanks for sharing–i love the c’est bon articles!!! (did i spell that right?)

Thank you for this tip, Julia! I am going to try it. My designs fall apart occasionally too, so I’ve resorted to using glue dots on pieces that I want to make sure they will stick well such as pieces I have run through my cuttlebug (embossed). But I am going to get some of this for sure! I’d love to read a review/demo of the ATG gun like this. Have you seen one?

I love this glue also. I picked mine up at Wal-Mart. Very inexpensive. A little goes a long way. It holds everything that I have tried it on. Thanks for sharing your review.

Oh my goodness, I was fearing I was the only one who experienced an exploding glue top accident with this… Thanks for sharing :)
    -Margie
    ps
Despite my one explosion I still use it regularly

  12. Sonyaon 10 Sep 2007 at 10:36 am

Ive had the exploding glue happen to me…mine went on my ceiling..haha

I also love this glue. Although, my glue clogs quite often. Once I can get the lid off though, I just run it under hot water, and its fixed.

Yeah I use this glue and its really good, I was surprised how quick dries.

oh…NOW you tell me. Actually, as always, my eye/hand coordination was off, so the glue and flying missle lid flew past my ear, narrowly missing my hair. It was like a cork coming out of a cap gun.

    LOVE the glue.

I love this glue! I’ve been using it for a year or so. I tried switching to a few different brands, but nothing else works as well. I like the fact that it doesn’t wrinkle my paper, either. I hate spending so much time making something, only to have it wrinkle from the glue.

Great to know..I will have to try it out. I too send way to much on mono adhesive!!! This would be handy for all my scrapbooking! Thanks for the tips…I would LOOK DOWN & squeeze!! LOL

  17. joslynon 10 Sep 2007 at 3:14 pm

i hate that mono tape comes apart. they say permanent, ha. i will give this a try.

Boy, there are a lot of us that have experienced the “exploding glue bottle!” I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one who expressed their frustration of a clogged tip by squeezing the bottle REALLY hard! I let them know what happened to me and they sent me a box of goodies! I was also told that they had changed/were changing the design and the cap was now screwing in so that it can’t pop out. When I heard that, I figured there had been a few problems with it, but just reading the comments here, it must have happened a LOT!

Thanks for your blog - it’s informative and I love your cards!

I’ve been using this glue for a couple of years now and absolutely LOVE it!

  20. Beckyon 10 Sep 2007 at 4:51 pm

    I like it also!
    Use sparingly.
    Got mine at Target.

Bwahahahaha. Sorry about your eyes, J! But thanks for the info. I just might look for this!

I love the glue also…. I second or third or fourth everyones opinion - if the glue is clogged don’t squeeze it within an inch of it’s life - if will “explode” on your projects. the other thing that I have found is it DOES leave glue lines if you use it with glossy paper - I go back to my tape runner for glossy paper projects. Also - I only buy the smaller bottle - I find I use all the glue before it has a chance to “get boogers”.

    Have a great day!

I bought some of this when I was making those big paperclip bookmarks. I will have to pull it out again. Thanks for the reminder!
