Simply Saturday…. a quick holiday project

Published by Julia Stainton at 6:59 am under Holiday, Papercraft projects

A quick simple project for the last weekend of summer. Summer always seems to fly by so fast and the Autumn season never slows down either for us. Back to School, Thanksgiving (Canadian one is early Oct), Halloween and then that mad Christmas rush. I always like to keep Christmas projects pretty simple. There is certainly enough to do. And so, I designed this candle wrap simply, keeping that in mind.

Joy Candle Wrap

I dediced to pair up a few Flourishes products to create this candle wrap. the wrap was very quickly made using cardstock and some Basic Grey Dasher patterned paper. Love this line! Of course…I just LOVE all Basic Grey. After sponging the edges of the papers, I adhered them together and then wrapped the candle with them. To adhere them, you really need to use a strip of red-line or Terrifically Tack tape to hold it together well.

The gorgeous black scalloped edge May Arts ribbon is from Flourishes. I love the quick look of elegance this ribbon gives. So easy to make it part of the embellishment. Simply tie around candle..how quick is that?!

For the simple tag, I simply made it out of a couple Spellbinders Nestabilities dies! Love how they fit into various die cut machines like my Cuttlebug! And I love how they work together SO well. Flourishes is now taking pre-orders for these dies and you can check them out HERE. I also love how the scallops on the black oval imitate the scallops of the May Arts ribbon.

The Flourished Words set is so elegant! I just love the fancy script! The stamps are clear polymer and make it so easy to stamp your sentiment exactly where you want it. To embellish the tag, I inserted a snowflakes brad from Creative Impressions through the top and then tied it onto the black wrapped ribbon with another scrap of May Arts, this time in dark red.

Supply List:

Cardstock: Bashful Blue, Black - Stampin Up

Patterned Paper: Dasher line - Basic Grey

Stamps: Flourished Words - Flourishes

Ink: Black - Stewart Superior, Close to Cocoa - SU

Other: Ribbon - May Arts, Nestability dies - Spellbinders, Snowflake brad - Creative Impressions, candle - Michael’s

    Hi Julia,
What a beautiful project, and a great gift idea! I love the idea of having a bunch of these candles on hand to give for a “thought” gift when people drop by during the holidays, or even as a favor for holiday guests. I have the Nestibilities on order
:-)…can’t wait to get them!! I am planning to use them in my Cuttlebug, will you share what your “sandwich” is when you use them?
    TIA!! Happy Labor Day!
