Christmas Town

I love creating Christmas cards to give out each season. I’m really excited that I’m almost done. Next week my goal is to get them all signed, addressed, and in the mail.

Over the past few days I’ve been creating holiday cards with the Lily Bee Design Christmas Town line.

Joyeux Noel Card

Supplies: Christmas Town patterned paper & rub-ons by Lily Bee Design, doily, Tiny Attacher by Tim Holtz for Advantus, crocheted flowers by Imaginesce, sanding block, twine, Christmas Tree Trinket Pins by Maya Road, Kiwi Chandelier Crystals by Heidi Swapp, Krafe Doily by Maya Road, peral flourish by Zva Creative

Vintage Tree Christmas Card

Quick Tip: Chipboard will die cut but trying to use your punches on it can be rather difficult to say the least. Make your own “faux” chipboard by punching your shape multiple times from kraft cardstock and then adhering together. Oh this project it added the dimension and stability needed to the main circle image.

Supplies: Christmas Town Patterned paper, rub-ons and die cut sheet by Lily Bee Design, twine, buttons by Jenni Bowlin, Circle punch by Marvy, snowflake by Heidi Swapp, Pearl Trinket Pins by Maya road

Today I’m posting on the Lily Bee Blog, these two cards and a couple others. Why not stop by?

Have terrific Tuesday!

It’s Mitten Weather

Brrrr…..

Baby it’s cold outside and it is DEFINITELY mitten weather. We haven’t seen any snow yet but the nights are well below freezing and I know it’s on its way soon. The little boys can’t wait although, I for one can. Now that I’m finally mostly back on my feet there is so much catching up to do. First on the list is buying the little ones some new winter boots.

Mitten Weather Wall-Hanging

I was having some fun creative time last week and found this 6×6 paper mache wall hanging in my stock of things to alter. I love creating altered projects and it’s always nice to change up what you are creating. It recharges those creative batteries. I’m loving the fun color combo on this Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather paper. The hit of muted  purple is so fresh for a Christmas line.

Quick Tip: Did you notice that Rudolph has a very shiny nose? A little clear crystal colored with a red Copic Marker makes it easy for him to “light the way”.

Supplies: Mitten Weather Paper Crafting Kit and chipboard by Cosmo Cricket, twine, crystals and crystal brads by Zva Creative, Labels Four Die by Spellbinders, sandpaper

Zva Creative October DT Blog Hop!

It’s time again for the Zva Designers to join together to share a project that we have created using some of our favorite Zva Creative products. I am hoping that you will take some time to join us for a little bit of fun again this month!

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes’ blog. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on 5 of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package …YAY! Those blogs will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it’s important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts now and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, Oct. 26th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, October 27th on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog as well (linked above). We will do our best to notify each winner, but it’s best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday…plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there.

All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post…you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer’s blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

my blessings

This beautiful brown crystal flourish from Zva Creative inspired me to create a Thanksgiving themed layout counting my blessings. My children have grown up quite a bit since this picture. I think that’s telling me it’s really past time to get another family portrait taken, don’t you?! I added in a fun canvas brad border detail along the top of the layout. I love the warm look the Zva Canvas Brads give.

The Zva Creative Crystal flourish draws your eye through the layout from the title to the photo, embellishing it at the same time. The beautiful papers are from the Catching Fall line by Lily Bee Design.

And finally, a little white Zva flower tucked into an embellishment cluster.

Supplies: Canvas Brads BR01CB111, BR01CB110, BR01CB109, Brown Crystal Flourish CRB02CB103 and white flower by Zva Creative, twine, leaf trinket pins, Kraft Ticket, chipboard butterflies and Kraft Mini Tickets by Maya Road, Catching Fall line patterned paper and rub-ons by Lily Bee Design, Distress Crackle Paint and Stickles by Ranger, Tim Holtz Ornate Bookplate and Game Spinner by Advantus

Thank you SO MUCH for joining us!

Hi. Remember me?

Wow!

I can’t believe it’s been a full week since I last posted.

A record here but not the good kind. I’ve never missed more two days of posting in the past three and a half years.

An extremely nasty virus turned sinus/bronchial infection really threw me for a loop. I haven’t been this sick in 15 years and would be very happy to wait even longer to experience it again. Armed with antibiotics, nasal steroids and an inhaler for the past few days, this morning I’m finally feeling like I may be on the road to recovery.

Thanks so much for your patience. I’ve totally missed blogging and after two weeks of not creating, I’m REALLY hoping to get back at it soon.

I do have a couple things I’ve been wanting to update you on…

  • my Making the Grade class (below post) was rescheduled for Wednesday October 27th if you’re interested in attending.
  • I also wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you for all the lovely comments and to those of you who were so kind to nominate me to be the November Cosmo Cricket Guest Designer. With your help I was so thrilled to make the top 5. My name didn’t end up being drawn as the guest designer but Cosmo Cricket has been so generous to send me their new Circa 1934 line. I can’t wait until it arrives as it is SO gorgeous. I just want you to know how very much your support meant to me. THANK YOU!

Merci

To go along with my thanks, here’s a quick little card I created before I got sick. It’s simple but sometimes that’s all you need.

Supplies: Jet Black Archival ink by Ranger, cardstock by Bazzill, Tiny Attacher by Advantus, Corduroy Brad BR01CB104  and rhinestones CR01CB119 by Zva Creative, patterned paper and die cute from the Paper Girl line by The Girls’ Paperie, Thickers by American Crafts

Have a fabulous weekend!

do you see what I see? a challenge.

So this card is a little out there for me. A little “cuter” than I tend to create but oh so fun to play with all the same.

One day I was in my studio creating with some Zva Creative bling and I started seeing wings in the flourishes. Add some doilies, a couple buttons, a felt flower for the hair and a tiny crystal “O” for the halo and I had an angel. Fun!

I thought this would make a fun challenge. Pull out those embellishments and see what you can create. What do you envision your embellishments becoming? I’d love to see.

And thus another Ways to Use It Challenge is born.

Want to play along? Be creative and use your imagination! Please join us here for the challenge.

Doily Crystal Angel Card

Supplies: kraft cardstock by Bazzill, Jenni Bowlin cardstock by Coredinations, sewing machine, doilies by Little Yellow Bicycle, buttons by Basic Grey, felt flower, crystal clear alphabet and crystal flourish frame by Zva Creative

I also wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone who has taken the time to nominate me. (see below post if you missed it. It’s open until Monday) I have my fingers crossed.

{friends} You rock!

Hugs,

sketch 125 & 10/10/10

This week Creative Scrappers is celebrating their 125th sketch. I love their sketches and wanted to join in and play along. I’ve paired up the sketch with some beautiful new Domestic Bliss products from Lily Bee Design and some beautiful Zva pearls as well.

It’s such a gorgeous day outside, a special weekend and what a unique day having the date of 10/10/10. We’re celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving here tomorrow and the kitchen smells oh so good!
