Sketches

It’s no secret that I just love working from a sketch. Whether it’s a card or a layout, they are a wonderful jumping off point for creativity. Starting with a little direction is a great thing!

Paper Crafts Magazine has just released their latest special issue called Go To Sketches. It’s full of fun sketches…66 to be exact with lots of fun interpretations of them to inspire you. I have a few projects in this issue and thought I’d share one of them with you today. Sorry I don’t remember which sketch number it is but that fun little Maya Road envelope was a great item to design around.  You can find this special issue at your local scrapbook store or bookshop or on-line from Paper Crafts here.

Just for You

A little ribbon and some shabby stitching and ink made this card super fun to create. I adore Webster’s Pages and Maya Road.

Quick Tip: Stamping on ribbon is a fun way to add a sentiment.

Hope your week is off to a great start!

just stamp it

love stamping. It’s what drew me into card designing in the first  place. All the options and interesting ways to use the same stamp. This year’s Stamp It Cards has just been released from Paper Crafts and I just can’t wait to see this new issue.

I’m excited to have a few projects in this issue. One of the most exciting for me is this card that I created for the Stamp It Three Ways column. Three designers were asked to create projects using the same stamp set, On the Desk by CHF. As I originally designed this set, I was super excited to see it  featured and can’t wait to see what the other designers did with it!

Before I go any further…yes I DO know it is Thursday and I didn’t forget about the Ways to Use it Challenge. If you read my Monday post you’ll know that we’ve had the flu here for a while. Unfortunately, I was not immune and came down with it for the past two days.  I’m getting back on my feet slowly but haven’t made it back to crafting again yet. Hopefully today! Michele Boyer, my sweet friend, was so kind to step in and help me out. Check out her challenge here.

Hello A Card a Day

 jks-hello-friend-slice.jpg

I’ve been stalking my mailbox hoping to see the new Card a Day book from Paper Crafts. I have a few projects in it and it’s now on sale. You may be able to find it at your local scrapbooking or book store but you can also find it on-line here.  This book has a card for every day of the year. What could be more fun? If you’d like a cool sneak peek at it…check this out. Is that not the coolest thing?

Hello Friend

So here’s one of my cards. I just love the colors of this paper. Yummm.

Thanks for stopping by!

Very Thankful

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday. More than just the turkey ended up stuffed. 😉 My husband’s family arrived for the day and with twenty-one of us, it was quite a fun and noisy occasion. Hubby and I had managed to make quite the dent in the to do list so I was pleased. The turkey was delicious and it was amazing how much food disappeared. What a wonderful day. We have so much to be thankful for!

I must admit though, today I’m feeling a little zonked. I hope I can squeeze in an afternoon nap! And I’m hoping to find some creating time today so I have something new to share with you. It’s been a while! In the meantime, I thought I’d share a couple pub designs with you…

The Paper Crafts Nov/Dec issue is already on the shelves. Where does the time go? I seem to be repeating that too many times lately! I’m excited that this issue has a few of my designs and excited that this year I submitted to the Stamping Royalty contest and won one of the spots with this  Glimmer Mist resist card. Sorry this picture isn’t a great one but I didn’t have much light the day I sent this off.

Love Gives Us a Fairy Tale

jks-once-in-a-while.jpg

I haven’t received my Holiday Cards and More copy yet but I did find a copy at my local Michael’s  to take a peek at. Wow! So many fabulous holiday ideas! I can’t wait to get my issue and sit down with a French Vanilla and go through it all. I love my computer but there is nothing quite like curling up on the couch with a beautiful magazine full of great ideas!

Merry & Bright

This was a super fun and quick card using My Mind’s Eye paper and die cuts embellished with some sweet Dew Drops.

Take care and have a fabulous day!

This and That… a couple pubs

I’m busy right now designing another stamp set so I haven’t had much time to actually sit down and stamp. I find I work best focusing on one thing or the other.  I thought I’d share a couple published designs with you today that were in two different Cardmaker special publications. Before I do, I have a winner of my latest rubber giveaway. I used an on-line number generator to pick #34 as the winner of the Night Before Christmas stamp set. Congrats Jennifer Scull! Please send me an e-mail and I’ll get this out in the mail to you.

First Birthday

This first one is from the Cardmaker Sketch Book: Birthday Celebration. It’s a great resource and full of creative sketches to help jump start your cardmaking projects. I created a first birthday design using one of the sketches. The darling little elephant is from Kim Hughes’ Baby Love set.

 Deck the Halls

This second card is from Fabulous Folds for Cardmaking. It’s a super cool book with lots of unique and creative techniques to make fun and interactive cards. I used an easy diagonal fold to create this pop of Christmas tree inside my card design.

Have a creative day!

My First Digi Card

I’ve created a lot of different kinds of cards. Stamped, scrappy, clean, shabby, stitched, painted…whatever. I always love trying something new. I’d been wanting to try my hand out at creating a digital card design and last October seemed like a good time. So…why am I just getting around to sharing it with you now? Actually I can’t believe five months have gone by this quickly! And why have I NOT made another digi card? Hmmmm…  Anyhow, I designed this card for Paper Crafts magazine for a Father’s Day quote project. It’s in the May/June issue that has just been released. I was so excited to get my subscription copy in my mailbox on Friday just before we went away for the weekend. It was so relaxing to sit and spend some time relaxing at the cottage, drinking tea and enjoying each page. It’s a fabulous issue and if you like stitching on cards, there are some awesome ideas. I’m excited to have a few designs in that article as well. You can purchase this magazine at your local craft or bookstore or on-line here.

Whatever You Are

jks-whatever.jpg

Ok…now this image may just look a little strange. I totally forgot to take a photo of the final design and so here is the card front in digi format. The black “frame” is NOT part of the card…I had to put in something there or the white card would just fade off into the white blog background.

My hubby was so kind to put up with me for this project. Stealing his stuff and then making him pose. I’m glad the photos were just of his hands as he was rolling his eyes at me! LOL I guess this card isn’t going to be much of a surprise this year  but hey…how much more personalized can you get?

Quick Tip: Try something new and stretch your creativity!

Hope your day is a good one!

Stamp It Cards

It’s almost here! I’m always excited to see the next Stamp It Cards magazine released by Paper Crafts. If you’re a stamped like me, you’ll know what I mean. Every single card in this issue is stamped and is filled with fabulous ideas. This issue goes on sale on Tuesday February 24th and you can find it at your local bookstore, craft store or on-line at Paper Crafts/Creating Keepsakes.I have a few designs published in this issue and am allowed to share one with you here. One of the great features of this new issue is a section where three designers use the stamp stamp set to create three different designs. Each project uses a different technique. I was excited to be asked to create this design here.
