A Blast….

I’m having a blast with this Out of this World stamp set by Lizzie Anne Designs. I have two little guys (…some big kids too) and this set is perfect for them. It seems the 5yo has started an endless round of birthday parties and this is the set I’m turning to each time I need another little boy card. For this design I paired it up with this new Cogsmo 8 line from Cosmo Cricket. I just love the 8×8 packs that I buy from Jacksonbelle. Perfect size for small layouts, cards and altered projects.

Out of this World Birthday

jks-out-of-this-world-birth.jpg

This was a super quick card to make. The Cogsmo 8 pack came with this Out of this world journaling card. To create my design I simply stamped my sentiment right on the card as well as the red blast from the rocket. The card was then sponged with distress ink on the edges, matted with a solid paper from the package, stapled and adhered to the design. For my main image, the rocket, I stamped it with Pitch Black Adirondack ink onto one of the lighter blue papers. With my Copic markers, I added some simple coloring and then set the windows with my eyelets. After cutting out the design, I popped up the image on foam tape. I’m loving these 3D stars from Creative Impressions. All I needed on this simple design was one in the right bottom corner to finish it off.

Hope your day is a blast! Check back in tomorrow for a fun Ways to Use it Challenge!

Out of this World…

I don’t have a {C’est Bon} entry for you today…I’m hoping to get back on track with those posts next week. I DID find some time on Friday to create this fun little birthday design. My 5yo was attending a party and needed a fun card. I realized I hadn’t used this darling Out of this World stamp set I bought from Lizzie Anne Designs a few months ago. It was so fun and easy to use with SO many options for use. I know you’re going to be seeing it again soon here. :)

Out of This World Birthday

This design uses a simple layout mixed with some new Fancy Pants paper I picked up at my local scrapbook store the other day. Don’t you just love using new product?! To create my scene, I simply stamped the images in Pitch Black Adirondack ink and then colored in with my Copic markers. I decided to keep embellishments to a minimum for a boy card and added a silver Making Memories star and a little Creative Impressions paper clip.

Happy Sunday!

St. Paddy’s Day…

Being half Irish…I just couldn’t resist designing a little card for St Paddy’s Day using some of my Lizzie Anne Designs stamps. This design uses a few sets paired up with some Basic Grey patterned paper. I’m totally drawing a blank this morning on which line it is. I know it is from one of their 6×6 paper pads but since I actually created this design a few weeks ago… I’ll try and figure it out and edit it in. I love how the circles are interconnected in the pattern. It reminds me of Celtic art. This renovation sure is taking its toll! As of last night, my kitchen is now stripped of sink, dishwasher, insulation (brrrr….), cupboards, drywall…in short, everything! My littlest guy wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. You’d think after six months of constant construction he’d be used to it but I guess not. Poor little guy. Last night he said…”Daddy, why you bweaking mine house?”

St. Paddy’s Day Party

jks-st-paddys-day.jpg

Edited to add…thanks Regina for letting me know the paper is Kisa from the Perhaps collections! :)

For this design, I used a simple layout paired up with some darling stamp sets…. It’s a Party, Celebrations & Celebration Sayings from Lizzie Anne Designs. The images were stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock in Old Olive ink. Once again, I’m loving my Circle Template…just can’t seem to put that thing down! Some Making Memories brads accent the curve and a little scrap of May Arts ribbon is tied and adhered to highlight the Party celebration. All edges were sponged with some Close to Cocoa ink to add a warm distressed look.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Flocked Valentines…

This is a fun little card in some not so traditional valentine’s colors. A dark red paired up with a rust color and some dots including blue give this design a cleaner, more masculine look. This Heart to Heart stamp set from Lizzie Anne Designs was so much fun to use. In the middle of the heart, I used my Sakura Glue pen to color it in and then press in some flocking for a warm fuzzy look.

Flocked Love U

copy-of-jks-flocked-love-u.jpg

I don’t have too much more to say about this design. Pretty simple straight-forward layout and stamping. If you missed my flocking post a couple days ago …just click here. The flocking used here is Camel by Cornish Heritage Farms.

It’s going to be a soggy day here. There’s a two hour fog delay for the school buses and I’m praying they won’t cancel school. Yes…it is pretty foggy! I can’t see the lights of the houses North of me as I write this, this early morning. Sigh…and I was hoping to take a little trip to my local stamp store. I haven’t been there in months! :( Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Simply Saturday…embrace today

I was cleaning up the other day…yes, I know…I DO get distracted very easily. ;) Especially if some random elements I’ve found in a pile go together so well! I came across this lovely pale lemon flower and this beautiful chipboard quote and had to put them together. The Asian feel of the quote just begged to be paired up with my Lizzie Anne Designs Far East set. As for the quote…

Yesterday is but a dream, Tomorrow but a vision

…reminds me that my life counts now. I only have today. Perhaps not tomorrow. {embrace} each moment , yes. Prepare for tomorrow, yes. Prepare for eternity, definitely.

With such a busy life it is so easy to think…tomorrow will be better, another year or so when they are all in school…. things will be better when the renovation is over…and it goes on. Sometimes I need to remind myself to stop and enjoy what the day brings. That sticky finger hug, the toys that get tripped over and even through the mess and stress of a renovation, be thankful that I am being so blessed that my husband is able to take this on for us. I think it is all about my attitude. Finding peace in that whirlwind.

Yesterday and Tomorrow
jks-dreams-and-visions.jpg

This design is super simple and serene to go with the style and the quote. Simple stamping, simple sponging, simple flower, a little sanding on the chipboard to add to the look and a simple little knot of twine to draw attention to that darling little lantern.

{embrace today}

Wishing you a simply wonderful day.

Supply List: cardstock: Whisper White - Stampin Up, stamps: Far East - Lizzie Anne Designs, ink: Willow Adirondack ink - Ranger, Other: chipboard - Die Cuts with a View, brad - Creative Impressions, flower - Prima Marketing, twine, sandpaper

Making Memories Textured Tape {C’est Bon}

jks-textured-tape.jpg

I love these packages of coordinating textured tapes by Making Memories. Now you may be wondering…exactly what is this tape. After all…it can be a little difficult to see the texture in a photograph. Making Memories had a fabulous line of these darling printed fabric tapes that are so easy to use. They are adhesive backed and come in packages of four coordinating rolls of fabric tape. These little rolls are perfect for adding texture and patterned to a design quickly. I love how they are easy to use and easy to trim off the excess. You can use them just like strips of patterned paper if you wish…they addition of a woven texture being a little fun and there is no need to get out the paper trimmer and adhesive…it’s all done for you.

What can you do with them? Adhere them as stripes, adhere them right together, wrap them around a jar or altered item. You can also make tabs with them, weave them, stitch them, punch them…just have fun with them! The Making Memories Textured Tapes come in a variety of patterns and are available at your local scrapbooking store, Michael’s and on-line crafting stores.

Girl’s Night Invitation

jks-girls-night-invitation.jpg

This is a quick fun girls night invitation card design. I’ m having so much fun with this It’s a Party stamp set by Lizzie Anne Designs lately, I thought it would pair up well with these fun textured tapes for a quick design. To highlight the fun colors and texture of the tapes, I kept the cardstock a simple plain white and accented with a touch Rose Red and Close to Cocoa paper and ink. Some buttons and stitching embellish the circular sentiment and to make a fun check for the girls night…a tiny Making Memories flower brad adds to that girlie look.

Hope you enjoyed this little product review. I don’t know about you but I could use a little girl’s night right about now. Amidst a winter cold snap and a dusty renovation…some fun would be really welcome! To my American friends…enjoy your holiday tomorrow! We don’t have the day off tomorrow here in Canada so it will be work and school as normal here. If you have any textured tape and wish to share your designs with me…I’d love to see them. Feel free to link in the comments below! :)

Simply Saturday…{spring simpliticy}

A sweet simple design for spring. This set is fast becoming one of my faves and it is perfect for simple designs. Beautiful, elegant and great for those days when you just want to stamp. Not distress, layer, color…just stamping at its simplest form.

Simply Friends Always

jks-simply-friends-always.jpg

This design is stamped with one of the latest Lizzie Anne Designs sets…. Far East. To create this jks-simply-friends-close-up.jpgdesign, I simply inked up the branch with Chocolate Chip and Pretty in Pink markers and stamped my impression. The flowers were added with a separate stamp in Pink Sherbert Adirondack ink. I then added the little lantern hanging from the branch. I just love how crisp and clean the impression is using the rubber stamps. The sentiment is also part of the set and is highlighted with another tiny pink flower. A little scrap of May Arts ribbon was knotted and adhered to the design with a glue dot. To highlight the flowers…a tiny dot of Liquid Pearls adds an accent and a hint of texture.

Quick Tip: When embellishing clean, simple designs…just use one or two subtle embellishments. In this case…less if definitely more. :)

Wishing you a wonderful day. Hoping your weekend is simply the {best}.

The Sketch Challenge…

It’s been quite a few weeks since I’ve had time to play around with the Wednesday Sketch Challenge on www.splitcoaststampers.com I always love this challenge but time is always at a premium. Actually…I REALLY shouldn’t be stamping this today as there is a pile of work to do. But…a girl needs a break now and then, right?!

This design uses one of Lizzie Anne Designs new releases this month, Far East. I think this set is one of my favorites of them all! So fresh and fun…I know you’ll be seeing more designs using this set in the future. :) I don’t know what it is exactly but I’m totally loving this color combo lately…olive and aqua/turquoise…a little retro maybe? Whatever it is…when I saw this Scenic Route Paper Co. patterned paper…I just had to get some!

It’s Party Time!

A fun little invitation design is my theme for today’s post. :) I love a party and this darling new It’s a Party set by Lizzie Anne Designs is perfect for creating fun invitations. I’m of the belief that party invites shouldn’t be too involved to create as you usually have to make quite a few of them. :) This is also a great day to feature this stamp set as it is party time at Lizzie Anne Designs. Today is the release date of their latest fabulous designs… ten new single stamps and THIRTEEN beautiful sets. You’re going to love them as there is a style for everyone. :)

Fun and Floral It’s Party Time

jks-its-party-time-invitat.jpg

This design was inspired by this gorgeous patterned paper from Autumn Leaves. I adore the fresh hip look…perfect for a teenage girl! You know how much I love soft teal and aqua colors and mixed with flourishes…I just couldn’t resist. To keep it fresh, I layered it onto a white card base and then picked up some colors to add on top. No…your eyes aren’t deceiving you…that IS Pink Passion paired up with Ruby Red and the aqua. I can honestly say I never would have thought of this color combo except that I pulled it directly from that paper… bright pink and ruby red. It IS pretty funky but in a fun way…it actually works! I mean really…if it works for Rhonna Farrer…I’m willing to run with it. ;) I can’t wait to find some time to try it out again.

My large save the date stamp was inked with Pink Passion and stamped onto some Whisper White cardstock. The name was easy to write in with a permanent marker and then I punched out the layer with my Marvy Jumbo Circle Punch. To mat it…this is where I worked in the Ruby Red…punched out another Marvy punch…the scalloped circle punch. I softened and highlighted the edges with some white craft ink wiped over the edges.

On to the background…I’ve been having a great time with my Hambly Screen Prints transparencies lately. I love how thick and sturdy they are and love adding that extra dimension and hit of attitude they seem to have. I had so much fun last year reviewing their products for Craft Critique…if you want to read more about them, you can check it out here. :) On top of my grid transparency, I stamped the It’s a Party flower in white stazon. Once dry I added some flourishes from the So Swirly set in black Stazon and a tiny accent sentiment…it’s*party*time. To hold my transparency in place, a little zig zag stitching in opposite corners does the trick. After adhering on the scalloped layer, I simply added some Prima flowers as simple embellishments, there centers held with tiny black flower Making Memories brads.

Wishing you a fabulous day! If you decide to have a little fun with a unique color combo, feel free to share the link here! I’d love to see what you’ve done! Check back in tomorrow for another fresh spring design. :)

Freestyle…

I designed this card a couple weeks ago when I was goofing off having a little stamping fun but I just couldn’t wait any longer to share it with you. A funky scrappy style again, I thought it just might work for my daughter’s birthday next month. This funky heart and wings look is really growing on me and I decided to pair up this stamp with a rhinestone crown from Me and My Big Ideas. This is an attempt at that fun freestyle look that is so popular in scrapbooking right now. Fresh and funky and once again…pushing me out of my safe little box. :)

Princess Birthday

jks-heart-to-heart.jpg

This card starts off with a Rose Red cardstock base stamped with Jolies Fleurs by Lizzie Anne Designs. I had this distressed looking solid pink scrap of Basic Grey 6×6 patterned paper on my desk and thought it might work well with the style I was going for. To add some “movement” to the design, I adhered it on the angle and then trimmed off the excess.

My heart and wings stamp comes from the Heart to Heart set also by Lizzie Anne Designs. The solid heart in the middle is stamped in Pretty in Pink and then the wings colored in with a pale pink  Copic Marker. To highlight the wings, I went over them with my Sakura Glitter Pen and then punched out the image with my Giga Circle Marvy Punch. The scalloped layer was then punched out with my Giga Scalloped Circle punch and the edges swiped with white craft ink. I then added that rhinestone crown I mentioned for a fun touch of bling and a little attitude. :)

To embellish the card, I decided to add some more movement and stitched some freestyle “waves” across my patterned paper. The pretty acetate flowers also add a young look. These Sheer Blossoms are adhesive backed on the one side and are by Making Memories. I’ve noticed a lot of metal in the free-style look so I added some large Creative Impressions pewter brads to their centers. Notice how I used three to form a visual triangle that highlights the focal point.

I had so much fun with this style…I know I’m going to want to try it again. I’d love to see any free-style designs you create! Feel free to link back to this post and I’ll come take a peek! :)

Something to note: Lizze Anne Designs is having a new release of some great new sets on January 7th! Make sure you stop by each day as they’ll be adding more sneak peaks every day until then!
