So Cool

Do you remember way back to February when I really started scrapbooking again? I loved those daily challenges even though 30 in 30 was a lot to taken on at once. It was well worth it as I love making layouts and finding a balance in why I started paper crafting in the first place.

The other day I was looking at my past layouts and it struck me that I hadn’t shared them all yet. This is one of those layouts and as it is a particularly steamy day here I thought it would be great to think “cool”.

This layout was created with a Jenni Bowlin kit. You’ll notice the photos are almost identical but each have a totally different look. The top right photo is printed onto regular glossy photo paper and the large photo is actually printed onto Claudine Hellmuth Sticky Back Canvas. I love this look! You don’t need any special printer or ink either. I just ran it through my HP inkjet printer for this fabric look.

Stay cool!

April Showers…

April showers bring May flowers. After an incredible Easter weekend that seemed more like summer, it’s back to April showers here. What a dreary day. That’s OK though as I know beach weather is just around the corner.

Today I thought I’d share a couple beach layouts with you. I think this pretty much finishes up my 30 in 30 layouts. I need to get back to creating some more.

The photo on the left of this layout is printed onto Claudine Hellmuth Sticky back Canvas. Jenni Bowlin papers can be found here.

This layout is a bit simpler and one of my first. If you’re getting back into scrapbooking, start simple and work up from there.

Have a great day!

A couple more…

I’m slowly getting to the end of my 30 in 30 layouts. I think I may have to challenge myself again as already I’m finding it hard to cram into my week. Of course last week was March Break and a bit chaotic so I have great hopes for this one. I can’t wait to get down to my room this morning.

A New Life

I love this sweet picture of my daughter with her new little brother. I created this layout with the new Fancy Pants Designs Road Show line. Love, love, love this line. Beautiful colors and a lovely soft, worn look. I don’t think this line has hit the stores yet but hopefully soon! I know I’ll be stocking up on some of it!

2 Cute

2-cute-blog.jpg

I’m wild about the October Afternoon Wild Cards. I discovered they are the perfect proportion to work into a grid layout. Here I’ve used the “2” card as part of the title and called it 2 Cute, highlighting some of my favorite photos from when my youngest was 2. Where does the time go? I think that’s one of the things I’m enjoying most about scrapbooking…going back and remembering the special moments and documenting them so my family will remember too.

Happy Monday!

Remembering Summer

Summer is my absolutely favorite time of year. Spring is a pretty close second but I love those summer days with my family. The lake is our favorite place to be.

I have a couple layouts to share on this theme. Golden Moments talks about a summer evening and The Wait is a layout about waiting for summer. Late last winter I took a shot of the empty harbour and the ice on the lake. It’s a totally different world from summertime. These are a couple more of my 30 in 30 layouts. I can’t believe I’m still sharing them with you but there are still more to come. Today’s a great time to share them as it’s March Break here and I have all the kids home. My focus, as it should be, is spending time with them and having fun. Add Grandma and a couple cousins to the mix and we have a full house.

So…keepin it short and sweet today so I can get back to my family…

 Take care,

show me some…

Attitude

removed-for-pub-jks.jpg

I’m still having fun exploring my scrapbooking style.  Each time I create a layout I learn something new. Even if it’s just what not to do! LOL I’m finding that it’s very similar to my card making style. The above Attitude layout was one of my first 30 in 30 layouts and I think one of my favorites. I’m lovin those bright colors. Note to self: Try more of this! My very picky teenager loves it too so that makes me very happy. 🙂

Quick Tip: a grid is a great way to use up scraps!

Natural Born Charmer

Yesterday I just wanted to create. I think I was feeling a little bit of scrappin withdrawal as I didn’t get time to scrapbook last week. While being frustrated because of lack of time isn’t fun, I was glad to feel it as it meant my 30 in 30 challenge did what it was intended to do… get me back into the rhythm of designing layouts more frequently. I’m quite addicted to Jenni Bowlin as you can see. I also got a little daring (for me anyway) and did a little doodling on the layout. This layout is from a sketch site I just found. I knew the pictures I took this past weekend would be perfect for it. This is sketch#43 from Inspired Blueprints.

Supply List: patterned paper by Pink Paislee, die cut paper by Jenni Bowlin, Chipboard buttons & Vintage Style Buttons by Jenni bowlin, Stickers by Studio Calico, twill tape, dymo label maker, Rub-ons, Stickers by Jenni Bowlin, twine.

 Enjoy your day!

Baby Boy

This is one of my favorite baby photos of my youngest. I’m excited I’m finally getting around to scrapping some of the baby photos. My biggest regret with my kids is that I don’t have more photos of them. Film was expensive and digital cameras just either weren’t available or out of our budget, depending on which child we’re talking about. I thought I’d add in lots of fun goodies for the few beautiful pictures I have.

Quick Tip: If you’re nervous about stamping directly on your layout, stamp sentiments on paper strips or punched elements to add in. If you make a mistake, no problem.

Enjoy your day!

la dolce vita

Another one of my 30 in 30 layout designs. I made this layout of my daughter as a sample for my local scrapbook store using the new Fancy Pants Designs Road Show paper. I love it’s gorgeous, shabby look.

I loved designing around the blackboard frame paper. I’ll be picking up more of it when the new line arrives for sure. Butterfly was created by a hand-drawn pattern and edges of all the papers were sanded for a worn look.

Quick Tip: Use a white gel pen to journal on dark areas. I love the Ranger White Opaque pen as it flows well.

Supply List: patterned paper by Fancy Pants Designs, flowers and pearls by Prima, buttons by Basic Grey, embroidery floss by Bazzill, Binding Edge Punch by EK Success, twill tape, Thickers by American Crafts, Rub-on by Pink Paislee, Brad by Basic Grey

Have a sweet Monday!
