flower boxes

It’s the first of June and one of the most beautiful times of the year. It seems each day my garden brings new blooms and growth. I can hardly believe the exuberance of it all.

I’m getting ready to plant some flower boxes and it inspired me to create a flower “box” of my own. Isn’t this rectangle of stamped blooms fun?

This stamp set is the just released Sunshine and Smiles June set from Avocado Arts. You’ve been seeing fun peeks of it all month long as Avocado Arts kicks off it’s very first release. I’ve been thrilled with the myriad of possibilities from this set. It’s one of those staples that will work time and time again.

To create this card I’ve used the two small flower stamps, butterfly and thinking of you sentiment included in this set. To begin with you’ll want to define the area that you want to stamp. You don’t want to eyeball it or you’ll end up with just a blob of flowers with no definite edge. I draw in my rectangle shape lightly in pencil so that I know where to stamp. The Tim Holtz Design ruler works great for this. By lining up the grid with my paper edges, I end up with a perfectly sized border without having to measure.

Start by stamping the sentiment and then fill in your flowers trying to balance the colors and fit images together to form a regular edge to the rectangle. That’s it! I love simple stamping!
