a summer shower card

Summer time always seems to be a bit of a blur. Whoever it was that called them the lazy days of summer definitely did not have my life.

I always get very sentimental on Labour Day weekend each year. I can’t quite put it into words but I’m full of very mixed feelings. Perhaps part of it is that I seem to count the years passing in summer that has passed.

This summer will be remembered by myself as the summer of weddings and accompanying events.

This sweet little card was created for a shower I hosted a few weeks back. It matched a sweet little heart banner that I stitched up for the occasion.

I wrote about it and if you missed the post, you can find it here.

I created a little pennant accent by notching the bottom of a strip of coordinating patterned paper and adding some pretty embellishments.

Happy creating!

i love to stitch

I love creating cards.

I love sewing.

So I thought it would be fun to experiment with creating a card design that is almost entirely fabric.

I’m pretty tickled with how it came out!

Have a safe and fabulous long weekend!

a little bit country

It’s the last few weeks of summer.

This time of year is always hard. I hate to see the summer end. I want to cram in every last possible moment of joy before school starts, the leaves fall and sweater season begins.

It’s not that I don’t like Autumn. I do.

But summer is just a very special time. Especially here in Canada when it’s so short.

Looking out the windows I see beautiful fields of corn. It’s so high this year that I really can’t see much BESIDES corn. But that’s a good thing.

Perhaps it’s inspired the country feel of this card I’ve created for the CLASSroom. I hope you’ll join me here.

Have a fabulous weekend!

the bridal shower tea party

It’s been busy lately. Lots of weddings this season and I was delighted to host a bridal shower earlier in the week. It was a fun venture that kept me busy for a couple weeks and I thought I’d share a peek with you.

As I love designing in Photoshop, I created a custom invitation. It’s edited a little for privacy but you’ll get the idea.

Because of our on-going renovation, my dad was kind enough to let me host it at his home. I took advantage of my late mother’s teacups and the lovely dining room to go with a tea party theme. Please forgive the photo quality. It’s not the best due to the lighting

Queen cakes have long been a British favourite and having grown up with them, mine as well. I love the royal icing topping over mounds of heavy frosting and I piped on some sweet little royal icing flowers for decoration.

Last minute decor means keeping it sweet and simple. This little garland was created by punching out lots of hearts from scrap patterned paper and then stitching them together.

Another nod to the tea party theme, I created a quick bouquet of roses in a teacup. Literally a two minute project and very sweet. I also purchased some little pots of ivy and greenery and planted them in teacups and china jugs.

This photo just shows the sweets side of the table. Queen cakes, lemon loaf, welsh cakes, brownies, Swiss fingers, Neapolitan squares, pecan squares and tiny teacups filled with love hearts candies.

Inspired by Pinterest, we made these fruit kabobs which were a big hit. I’ll be making those again.

Best wishes A + B! We are so excited for you both!

I’ll be back tomorrow to share the card. Thanks for stopping by!

hey there!

It’s summer time, which in my mind equals bright beautiful color.

I’ve been having a blast with the gorgeous Artisan Resistable Paper Pack by Pink Paislee. It’s full of gorgeous prints that you can add color to to make any hue you can think of. As you can see, it looks great in a bright and bold color combo.

leavin’ on a jet plane

…don’t know when I’ll be back again…

I wish!

However much I want to get away, I’m staying right here, by all the lovely Great Lakes, enjoying the rest of summer and some time in my craft room.

The stunning new Maya Road charm, Around the World Plane, really DOES make me think of flying away. And it’s soooo perfect for guy cards. I’m sharing one of the projects I designed for the recent tradeshow today on the Maya Road blog here. Click over and join me!

Have an absolutely fabulous weekend!

CASE Study 3rd Anniversary Blog Hop

Have you ever been to the CASE Study Blog? It’s one of my absolute favorites for inspiration!

This fabulous challenge site is celebrating their 3rd anniversary in blog hop style. As a previous featured designer, I was asked to take part and am super excited to do so!

Make sure you find the time to hop from blog to blog on this hop.

a) the inspiration is AMAZING

b) you MAY want to leave comments… in fact, it’s probably a good idea if you do! just saying 🙂

Pinterest seems to be an addicting source of inspiration for myself and everyone else these days. The theme for this blog hop is to find an inspiration piece and design a card around it. The colors, prints and big gorgeous blooms on these sweet aprons I found here really drew me inspired the following card design.

I’ve used my favorite new addiction…the Pink Paislee Artisan Resist-able Papers. Each paper comes white with an embossed white design on it. Simply add color and you have a gorgeous custom paper. I’ve sponged distress inks onto the papers to get similar colors as my inspiration piece.

The beautiful floral accents on the aprons inspired a cluster of gorgeous embellishments.

As part of this blog hop, you may have come from Lisa Spanglers blog.

Next stop on the hop is Julee Tilman!

Enjoy the rest of the blog hop and thanks for stopping to help celebrate the CASE Study 3rd Anniversary with us!

Happy creating!
