The sun is shining. That always puts me in a very happy mood so how about a bright, fun and happy card for today?

I’ve been doing some more recycling and repurposing and cut this cute denim pocket off of a pair of jeans that my little one wore out. Those knees are always the first to go you know but the pockets are great for scavenging for new projects.

I’ve created my own floral embellishment by layering zipper trim petals, a smaller flower and a very pretty jeweled button.

What do you think of a neutral palette?

They don’t have to be boring. Add lots of textures and the neutral look shines.

I love die cut tags and recently had this Sizzix die out. The three tags made a fun and easy background for the card. Each tag is cut from the same piece of patterned paper. Because it was double sided I just flipped one side over for some subtle variation in the print. Some of my favorite Maya Road embellishments are clustered together to finish off the design.

kraft friendship

Kraft cardstock is a must-have staple in my craft room. In fact, I rarely use any cardstock colors other than white, black, cream and kraft. Kraft is a great neutral that goes with everything and I love the mid-range tone that you can stamp either lighter or darker on it.

Today’s Kraft Friendship card uses some sentiments and flowers from April’s Avocado Arts stamp set with a sneak peek at a few designs from the upcoming May Set. It’s called Thoughts and Smiles. How about that little chicken wire panel?! And all those dots for the background?

for your loss

I must admit that sympathy cards are not my favorites to make. Loss is such a heartbreaking thing. I hope this card will bring comfort to a dear lady who has lost her husband of many years.

I thought a soft vintage look might be appropriate for today’s design. I’ve used some pretty vintage style text papers from Prima and then added some inking and stitching.

I wanted to highlight the sentiment and also try something a little different with it. The sentiment is stamped onto the back of a Maya Road mini ruler. Once again, Jet Black Archival ink to the rescue for very little bleeding on difficult surfaces.

Quick Tip: Think of using embellishments in new ways. It’s OK to think outside the box to get more use from your supplies.

Among the most treasured of times in my life, are those when each of my children were young. Babies bring such joy and hope, remind us of the preciousness of life and each is a gift from God.
While all my babies are growing up and couple are adults now, I wanted to create this little baby album for one of my boys. It’s a wonderful way to reminisce and create a tiny album for my child to treasure in the years to come.

If you’ve been reading my ramblings for any length of time, you’ll know just how much I love working with canvas. It’s just feels so wonderful and I love altering it. This little star album fits in the palm of my hand and has been stamped, inked and misted.

Misted Canvas

Hi! I’m back! Sorry I took a little impromptu break for the past few days. It really wasn’t planned but with a holiday weekend with my family at home, I really enjoyed focusing my time on them. An Easter dinner, some shopping, some friends in on Sunday night and a birthday dinner kept me celebrating all weekend long. I also want to thank all of you for your lovely response to my Folded Chevron Tutorial and those who left me birthday wishes. You truly made my day.

Today I have a simple misted canvas to share with you. I adore mists and templates and they are a fun and easy way to create some wall art. Canvases are also great quick and easy gifts.

To create this canvas I first misted it with my blue Glimmer Mist and allowed it to dry. To create the pattern, laid a template over the top and then misted the entire thing again with Sprout Chalkboard Mist. A great trick for keeping that template perfectly in place is to use a temporary adhesive on the reverse to hold it there. I used the Removable Glue Dots® as they hold well and then remove easily.

After misting the design, I used Craft Glue Dots® to hold on the vintage button accents and Glue Dots® Lines to adhere the zipper trim around the edges.
