I must admit that sympathy cards are not my favorites to make. Loss is such a heartbreaking thing. I hope this card will bring comfort to a dear lady who has lost her husband of many years.
I thought a soft vintage look might be appropriate for today’s design. I’ve used some pretty vintage style text papers from Prima and then added some inking and stitching.
I wanted to highlight the sentiment and also try something a little different with it. The sentiment is stamped onto the back of a Maya Road mini ruler. Once again, Jet Black Archival ink to the rescue for very little bleeding on difficult surfaces.
Quick Tip: Think of using embellishments in new ways. It’s OK to think outside the box to get more use from your supplies.

A difficult reason to need a card for sure. But this is gorgeous Julia!!
A beautiful card!
Beautiful card, Julia. I am sure it will bring great comfort.
I agree, sympathy cards are never easy for me to make. I usually try once a year to make a bundle so I have some on hand and don’t have to think about it again until the following year. Your card is stunning! I love all of the texture and detail. I think the recipient will appreciate all of the love you put into creating it.
Very beautiful. I love how you think.
Absolutely beautiful! I am glad I found your blog today. I’m excited to start following it. That vintage style is right up my alley. I’ve luckily never had to make a sympathy card. I haven’t been making cards for that long though. BTW , if anyone loves Graphic 45 stuff, I am going a little giveaway that ends on April 15th over at my blog. New subscribers are welcome! Julia, this card is so beautiful….and my fave style, along with your ‘shabby chic’. I am sure the recipient of it will be comforted greatly by its words & beauty.
More vintage, more shabby?? Best wishes, Bessie.
