a time to laugh & a time to mourn

Last week I was in need of some sympathy cards. Not for anyone close to me but the father of an on-line and creative friend. I know how heart-breaking it is to lose a parent. When I lost my mother five years ago I was blessed to be inundated with beautiful handmade cards from the crafting community. Each card helped to know that someone cared and going to the mailbox brought a bright spot to each day.

I decided to share this first card with you today because it is so flexible. I like using butterflies on sympathy cards because of their symbolism of hope and new life. If you changed this sentiment of this card, it would be perfect for an Easter design or get well or a myriad of other ideas.

I’ve used a lot of misting to create this design. The unique quality that mists bring to each project has me hooked on creating with them. No one card will be exactly the same as another. Each of the canvas butterflies were misted with a different Maya Mist.

One thing you may not have noticed in the above photo is that the kraft cardstock is also misted. I’ve used a Mini Dot Template and laid it over the Kraft cardstock before misting with Snow White Maya Mist. It has the most beautiful sheen to it when it catches the light.

Supplies: twine, blue Maya Mists by Maya Road

Wishing you joy!
