Alter It

It’s no secret that I love altering things. Misting, inking, sponging, stamping…just making it my own is pretty much my favorite way to paper craft. Today I just had a blast altering pretty much every item on this card. My hands are inky and there is a huge smile on my face. Isn’t that what crafting is all about?

This project uses a LOT of Glimmer Mist and Distress Ink. I’ve used stamping, masking and misting to create the unique background. It comes as beautiful printed canvas sheets that I just can’t get enough of. Seriously. I’ll be going into withdrawal if it’s ever discontinued. The flower is also spritzed with two colors of Glimmer Mist, Sugar Cookie and Viva Pink.

The canvas chipboard crown was actually the piece that started off my entire design. I felt like using it today and sponged it with Worn Lipstick and Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink.

I had the foresight (for once) to take a picture of how I created the background as I knew the embellishments would cover quite a bit of it up. The canvas was masked with a Voila Felt Strip and then spritzed with Glimmer Mist. A heat gun comes in super handy to speed things up. My white felt strip is all misted and pretty now and I’ve set it aside for another day, another project. Lastly I stamped some fun postal images onto the canvas and I love the final result.

Here’s the closeup.

If you like to alter things too, make sure you stop by Ellen Hutson LLC as she is having a sale on all her alterable projects. Gasp! That’s 671 products. I just couldn’t resist having a little shop! Check it out here!
