Fussy Cutting

There are so many beautiful papers out on the market these days. I just can’t get enough of them. One technique that is easy to do and highlights beautiful designs in the paper is fussy cutting. You simply cut out image you want to highlight and then adhere it with dimensional foam tape.

I’ve layered this pretty floral accent over a doily and some more patterned paper for a pretty and feminine design.

Quick Tip: When fussy cutting, use very fine, sharp scissors and turn the paper, rather than the scissors for a smooth cut.

Winter Wonderland

It’s going to be a white Christmas!

I love snow for Christmas. While this week looks much better in terms of snow storms, cold temperatures and the piles of snow we already have mean it is definitely going to be white. I’m loving the snow this year. Of course, I’m very fortunate I don’t have to shovel it. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it quite as much if I had to.

Another thing I like are white on white cards. They are so fresh and pretty. I’ve created this snowy white Christmas design as one of the snow themed cards I’ve created for today’s CLASSroom post. I hope you’ll stop by for some snowy inspiration.

Thanks for stopping in!

simply saturday…simply framed

It truly doesn’t get much simpler than this.

A perfect design when you’re in a hurry and actually, it’s one of my favorites.

Have a simply wonderful day…

a little more Christmas

Do you like using the traditional red and green for your holiday projects or do you like to switch things up now and then? I love both. Today’s card uses a fun holiday color scheme of pink, cream and red with green accents. It still says holidays with those sweet snowflakes on the pattern. Inspired by the paper and the Christmas carol themed stickers, this holiday card has a musical theme.

A Merry Little Christmas

Quick Tip: Highlight patterned paper elements with rhinestones to make them pop.

By adding a little ink, lace and distress crackle paint, this card takes on a shabby chic look.

Supplies: cardstock by Bazzill, patterned paper and stickers by October Afternoon, lace by Prima, chipboard by Maya Road(i think), twine, rhinestones by Zva Creative, Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink and Picket Fence Distress Crackle Paint by Ranger

Now I need to get busy! I’m off to deliver some holiday goodies to the school and then put on my Christmas Carols and start baking. I’m having a surprise birthday party tonight and we’re celebrating the first of our Christmases tomorrow. Can’t wait!

Have a wonderful festive weekend!

feeling jovial

It’s almost Christmas!

Just nine more days. I’ve pretty much finished shopping and have moved onto wrapping. For those of you who are still creating holiday cards, here’s one using the Basic Grey Jovial line.

Merry Yule

I love new product. I get inspired to create just by looking at it. This piece of chipboard caught my eye with all the great bands of color. Isn’t it fun to carry them through to the rest of the design? The coordinating 6×6 paper pad toned in perfectly to bring the color into the rest of the card. And how super easy was it that each band was one inch wide?! Love that! A couple rhinestones and a darling Jovial chipboard birdie and the card’s complete. I wish all projects made themselves this simple.

Have a very, merry day!

All my love

Anyone else love cameos? I’ve always been fascinated with them. My mother and grandmother had them and I always wanted a chance to look at them when I was a child.

Today’s card features a Webster’s Pages cameo embellishment. I love how elegant it is. Cameos are a beautiful trend right now along with all things vintage. Have you seen the latest issue of Paper Crafts magazine? This issue’s Moxie Fab trend is cameos and there are so many beautiful designs. Due to the second week of major snowstorms here I haven’t received my copy yet but I did take time to browse through it in Wal-mart the other day. I can’t wait to sit down with it at home and look at it in depth.

Speaking of storms, 3 days off school last week and 3 days of school closures again this week have left me scrambling to keep up. Sorry I’m not on my regular posting schedule but juggling family, Christmas and commitments has me hopping. It’s not even officially winter yet!

Happy creating!

Simply Saturday… simply Christmas

Can you believe it?

Less than two weeks until Christmas!

We’re actually busy celebrating birthdays today and next week in this house. I had two of my children in December and it makes a busy month even busier.

Today I have a super simple card to share with you. A holiday design without using holiday product. The stripes are created with Artisan tape from Pink Paislee.

My second card is also super simple but uses Christmas product for October Afternoon. Using coordinating product makes it so simple to put together.

Have a wonderful weekend & be merry!
