A Banner Day

Banners are everywhere these days. Paper, stickers, stamps, chipboard and hand made ones too. I love this fun trend. Inspired by some fun new product, I thought it would make a great challenge for today. Want to play along? Here’s a link for today’s Ways to Use it Challenge.

Would you like some great rubber to celebrate World Cardmaking Day? If you missed commenting on this post (click here), don’t forget to do so.

A Banner Hi

A fun new Hero Arts stamp and some gorgeous new Lily Bee Design paper just had to meet for this card. If you’ve been waiting for the three beautiful new lines from Lily Bee it’s been shipped and you can find it at your local scrapbook store or online stores such as scrapbook.com and twopeasinabucket.com

The banner stamp for this project stamps much straighter than you see it here. By stamping it and cutting it out, the paper is so thin in the rope area that it is easy to bend slightly.

Supplies: Hello Flags stamp & Big Hugs stamp set by Hero Arts, kraft cardstock by Bazzill, Catching Fall paper line by Lily Bee Design, twine, sewing machine, Black Memento Ink by Tsukineko, Jet Black Archival Ink by Ranger, Copic Markers

Quick Tip: If you read the above supply list, you may have noticed I used two different black inks. Why would I bother doing that? The Tuxedo Black Memento ink is best for using with Copic Markers. The sentiment is stamped with the Jet Black Archival Ink from Ranger as I find it gives a much darker and solid impression which is really needed to make it show up well when stamped on the patterned paper.

Happy creating!

September Zva Blog Hop Winners announced

We’d like to congratulate the five September Zva Blog Hop winners! Their names will be found on the following blogs:

Kim Hughes
Julianne McKenna-De Lumen

Wendy McKee
Benedicte Raphalen
Lisa Johnson

One winner from each of the 5 blogs will receive a Zva prize package worth $30.00. Congrats winners!

I have another Zva Creative design to share with you today. I’m just in love with the new Zva releases and couldn’t wait to create with these lovely leaf crystal embellishments CRS03CB112.

One of the leaves is placed right onto my cardstock and the other onto a piece of vellum. The vellum was then trimmed around the leaf shape. On the reverse, I colored the vellum leaft with red and orange dye based markers and blended in the ink for a lovely subtle effect.

I love texture, especially on autumn cards and I’m quite addicted to using the sweet canvas brads BR01CB110 from Zva.

While I’ve been busy sorting my goodies and  I found doubles of the Newspaper Ads Scrapblock, Crossword and the Bracket Block Scrapblock that I designed for CHF. These are a few of my favorite stamps and I love their huge 6×6 inch size. To help celebrate World Cardmaking Day, they’d love to go to a good home where they’d get some inky love. Leave me a comment on this post  letting me know what you’d do with them and I’ll randomly draw one winner to receive all three. You have until 9 pm EST Friday night to leave your comment on this post.  I’ll post the winner on Saturday, World Cardmaking Day. Sound fun?

Zva Creative September DT Blog Hop!

The Zva Designers are joining together again today to share a project that we have created using some of our favorite Zva Creative products. I am hoping that you will take some time to join us for a little bit of fun again this month!

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes’ blog. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating incase there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on 5 of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package …YAY! Those blogs will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it’s important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts now and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, September 28th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, September 29th on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog as well (linked above). We will
do our best to notify each winner, but it’s best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday…plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post…you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer’s blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

Simply Delightful

simply delightful layout

One of my absolute favorite Zva Creative products is these big & beautiful crystal brackets CRB02CB109. I love how trendy but timeless they are and how well they tie a layout design together. When the bling is this pretty, I like keeping the rest of the design simple to make it the focus. I do have one other Zva product on the page though…that pretty brown corduroy brad BR01CB105 in the flower center works with the brown accents in the patterned paper.

During the summer we took a mini vacation with a family that we are close friends with. I couldn’t resist taking this shot of my friend’s daughter sitting on the pier with the sun shining through her hair. I like to make layouts for special people and this one is for her.

The gorgeous patterned paper is from the Wishful line by Fancy Pants Designs. I’ve cut it up in strips and stitched it for a clean and sweet layout. My flowers are hand made using the Tattered Florals Die. One is die cut from the Fancy Pants paper and the other from some canvas I had on hand from the fabric store. The fabric on is spritzed with Viva Pink Glimmer Mist.

Thank you SO MUCH for joining us ,

all things new

I know it’s out of season but I don’t usually scrap chronologically and so, today’s layout is about spring. I adore autumn, summer is bliss but I must admit winter is not my favorite season. I do like it but summer always seems so far away. I think what I love most about spring is life seems to awaken and God makes all things new. It’s a good thing to remember going into a long winter…that spring WILL come again.

As Winnie the Pooh says…

Together is a wonderful place to be.

I love getting together with family for the big and little celebrations throughout the year. At times it is just my dad for a little birthday party and other times it is my husband’s whole family. Family is important and I cherish each moment.

We had a little birthday party for my dad back in May. I know that’s a while ago but better now than never getting the pictures scrapped. I actually got a shot you’ll rarely see. One with all of my five kids in it. No…it’s not the best of everyone but I love it as it shows their personalities so well.

I’ve also learned my lesson the hard way.  I need to take pictures while I can. I wish I had taken more of my mom.

I’ve created this layout for the CLASSroom and you can find all the details here.

Have a fabulous weekend!
