MANY Thanks

The title MANY thanks is certainly true on today’s post. It seems that now that school is out I finally have time to share a few thank you’s I created for two of the teachers and our bus driver.

It’s hard to believe that an entire school year is over. The kids all did very well in their studies and I’m a super proud mom. The two little boys started a new school this past year and I think a few of us were a little pale that first day with all the changes it brought. We were so blessed this year to have the boys settle in well and enjoy their classes. The teachers were amazing and the boys loved their bus driver so much that one of them invited him to Christmas dinner. He had his own family of course, and didn’t come but he was honored to be asked. I must be a sentimental sap as I find myself a little teary eyed at the thought of not seeing them again next year. Because of system boundary changes, they are headed to yet another school next year but I know that God already has wonderful things planned for them there.

Now that school’s out, what do you plan to do with your kids? If crafting fun is on the agenda, Ellen Hutson LLC has some ideas you just might want to check out. Of course, even if you don’t have kids at home, a sale is always worth looking into, right? The first blinkie in my sidebar under my photo is the link. Don’t forget to put KIDS10 as the promo code.

Many thanks also to Cath Edvalson! I’m super excited to have my Enjoy the Journey Bicycle card chosen as one of the featured Moxie Fab cards!  What a wonderful surprise that was to wake up to. The other cards featured are totally Moxie Fab so be sure to check them out here. Don’t forget to leave a comment as Cath has a Moxie Fab prize to give away.

Whoot for Summer

Summer vacation is finally here. As usual, with a large family we’re mostly planning on staying at the cottage or taking small day trips. That’s ok though as I have lots planned and we’ll definitely be enjoying the journey. I think beach days, splash pad visits, picnics, tubing, bonfires and bbq’s, sleeping in, lazy days, kids’ crafts, bike rides, camping in the backyard, building sand castles, play dates, sleepovers and water balloon fights sounds like a lot of fun.Whew!

I don’t often have time for too many challenges but I always find creating for fun recharges the creative “batteries”. This card was created for the Moxie Fab World I Want to Ride My Bicycle Challenge.  Fun challenge! I’m not quite sure whether this card is Moxie Fab or not but as with all creative challenges, it’s having fun that counts! I just squeaked in under the wire on this one but I’m so glad I managed it today. I had so much fun I can’t wait until the next challenge!

Looking for the Zva Creative Blog hop? Keep scrolling! It’s just below this post. :)

Enjoy the Journey

This darling chipboard bicycle is from the Dear Lizzy collection by American Crafts. I’ve paired it up with some fun prints from Lily Bee Design. Does this design drive you dotty? :) Lots of dots and circle elements to have fun with.

The embellishments are pretty simple because of all the fun prints. Do you recognize the Zva Creative felt flowers? I’ve stitched them into little blossoms and placed them into the bicycle basket. I think I need to dust off my bike, check the tires and go for a spin. What do you think? Would a basket full of flowers to match this card be overkill?

Supplies: patterned paper and rub-ons by Lily Bee Design, twine, Tiny Attacher by Advantus, felt flowers by Zva Creative, pinking shears,  Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink by Ranger, Dear Lizzy chipboard by American Crafts

Need a little cooling down?

I thought it would be fun to share a few photos from a 50th wedding anniversary/family reunion on the weekend. A couple of my boys and their cousins managed to get into the splash pad fully clothed WITH shoes BEFORE family pictures.  They had a blast! lol I’m wondering what the official photos look like though!

So. What do you have planned for your summer?

Hope it’s a blast!

Zva Creative DT Blog Hop!

Are you ready to be inspired?

As you may know, I am a proud design team member for Zva Creative.  We are joining together today to share a project that we have created using some of our favorite Zva Creative  products. I am hoping that
you will take some time to join us for a little bit of fun!

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes’ blog. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way.  If you would like to play along, I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. There are 19 design team members, so be prepared to be inspired along the way.  Hidden on 5 of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package …YAY!  Those blogs will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it’s important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

This Blog Hop runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, June 29th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, June 30th on each of the winning blogs and the full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog (linked above). We will do our best to notify each winner, but it’s best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday…plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there.  All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post…you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer’s blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

keep-in-touch.jpg

I’ve used some of my favorite  Zva products on this card…crystals, felt flowers and corduroy brads. I love bling and I love texture.

Summer & Dreams

I love scrapbooking. Unfortunately over the past couple weeks there has been little time for it. You know how those last few weeks of school can get. A little crazy to be sure. High School exams are now over and my daughter had a safe flight to Alberta. I’m now the lone female in the house so life should be interesting. This week brings the end of Elementary School and a Canada Day celebration. I can’t believe summer vacation is here.

Today’s Creative Scrapper’s sketch #110 is a fun one. I just love the way the gorgeous curved layer moves your eye through the design.

The Canvas Tree Form is fun to alter by sponging it with a little Crushed Olive Distress Ink. I’ve always loved the look of paint on layouts and I splattered and brushed on some Claudine Hellmuth Blank Canvas Studio Paint to add interest to the kraft cardstock.

dream-layout-closeup.jpg

Here’s a closeup of the tree and the Tim Holtz Journaling Tickets are a fun way to add a little journaling to the layout.

dream-stamping-detail.jpg

Stamping makes a great embellishment on layouts and photos. Sentiments from the Hero Arts Anytime Messages set is stamped here on the photo and also at the  top of the design.

Here’s the original sketch. You can play along here.

Supplies: Hero Arts Anytime Messages Stamp set, Kraft cardstock by Bazzill, pinking sheers, Paper Girl line patterned paper by The Girls’ Paperie, Brushed Corduroy & Crushed Olive Distress Ink by Ranger, Puff Alphabet by SEI, sequin trim, lace by Prima, Canvas Tree Form by Prima, buttons and glitter chipboard by Melissa Frances, Binding Edge Punch by EK Success, Journaling Ticket & Tiny Attacher by Advantus

Have a beautiful week!

a sweet farewell

Six months just seems to fly by! I can’t believe the year is half done already. Today I have another Card Patterns sketch card to share with you. It’s my last one with this wonderful team and I’ve really enjoyed each sketch. If you’re looking for some great card sketches, Card Patterns is one of my absolute favorite places to find them. While I’ll no longer be part of the team, there’s a fabulous new team in place for great inspiration and I’ll still be playing along when I get the time. Thanks Michelle, Nina and Tracy for the wonderful experience and I wish you the best with your wonderful sketches.

Play along with us this week for Sketch #70. This sketch is sponsored by Gina K Designs and there is a great giveaway for one lucky participant and a guest designer spot for another. Good luck!

I love this sweet stamp set by Gina K.  Love Notes has the most beautiful sentiments that I keep coming back to again and again.

Quick Tip: Pinking shears or scissors are a great way to add interest and a vintage look to your projects.

Happy creating!

every day of your life

May you live every day of your life. I totally love this saying. Don’t you? There will never be another today so I need to make the most of it. Live for what truly counts.

Today I’m sharing another creation in the CLASSroom. Ever tried making your own rub-ons? I hope you’ll stop by for the tutorial.
