Scrappy Fun

Today I have a few more “just for fun” designs. I seem to be a big fan of red, pink and aqua tones these days so hopefully these cards will brighten your Monday morning. 🙂 I’m feeling pretty great today as we had a productive weekend around the house. When you have five kids, you rarely get new furniture, actually, almost never. We’ve been needing a new chair for the living room for ages and hubby splurged and bought up a new leather chair. It’s so soft and comfy and actually reclines although you really can’t tell it’s a recliner. I’m looking forward to some quiet time as I think it will make a perfect reading chair. We also had a little help from the designer with rearranging our living room. It’s one of those crazy old rooms with two windows, fireplace, front door and FOUR other doors off the room. Makes arranging the furniture next to impossible. I’m so excited as it finally works!

Just Believe

believe-card.jpgIt’s tutorial day again at the CLASSroom blog and this week I’ve been having a lot of fun with some new Webster’s Pages product. The Petite Paper packs are beautiful, not to mention the drool-worthy Fabric Fancies. There’s step outs on how I create a project as well as fussy cutting and how to use product for themes other than it was designed for. We all want to get more for our money, right?

There’s lots going on today as I have another Bracket Block sample and it’s also release day. Here’s the Bracket Block Scrapblock…

Counting Blessings

Thanksgiving is just around the corner if you live in Canada. It’s always a great time to count your blessings. I do try to live each day with an attitude of gratitude but some days, I must admit, I do need a little reminder. Whether you’re counting blessings or enjoying getting the kids back to school, I thought it would be a fun challenge today to focus on numbers. Use them on an anniversary card, a birthday card or whatever you can thing of. Just count on having fun with this challenge. Check it out here.

To create the stamped background, I arranged the numbers onto a large clear acrylic block. It was easy to repeat stamp the large blocks of numbers without having to individually stamp each one. The Scrapblock stamped over top helps pull the layer together. I let the journaling block create the sentiment for me and added on a few of the things I am thankful for with a dymo label maker.

Supply List:

Stamps: Number Fun (Kim Hughes line) & Distressed Grid Scrapblock by CHF

Ink: Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink by Ranger, Tuxedo Black Memento Ink by Tsukineko

Paper: Coredinations Cardstock, Kraft and Black Cardstock by Prism Papers

Other: Office Sheer by Maya Road, flower by Prima, brad by Imaginesce, ribbon, dymo label maker

Happy creating!

hi

I like to design in many different styles. Designing stamps for me is no different. My new Bracket Block Scrapblock will be released on Friday and has a fun, trendy style compared to Tuesday’s vintage style release. This Scrapblock measures 6″ x 6″ and can be used for cards and altered projects as well as scrapbooking. Thanks so much for all the sweet comments yesterday on my stamp set, layout and my little rascal. He had a great day Monday and came home with a star. He’s quite  hilarious as he LOVES the ladies. I think it may be all the attention he gets. Watch out Auntie Becca! I think he may have a new girlfriend in Mrs. Howe. 😉

Baby Girl

jks-baby-girl-full.jpg

This is one of my latest cards for my Etsy shop. It’s so much fun playing with random elements and combining them all together. I had fun combining the pink and orange together. It’s hard to see in this pic but I brought in pale pink and flesh colors into the baby image by coloring them in with some Copic markers.

Thanks for stopping by!

Sew Special

Today is sew special as my latest stamp set, Sew Special is released today. Here it is…

Sew Special

ll-6024-sew-special-siz.jpg

One of the things I really like to incorporate in my stamps sets is the ability to use them on layouts as well as cards. I know I said I was going to try and do a layout every week…oops, missed a few…but I’m finally getting back into the swing. I used the stamps as a spring-board for the theme of the layout. I originally started this layout out as an 8×8 but thought it would look so much better mounted onto black 12×12 cardstock. I know it’s black but it’s called white space.

Family is the Fabric of Life

jks-family-fabric-of-life.jpg

The four patterned paper panels are Jenni Bowlin mini papers that I stitched together to form a background. The three black circular elements (two Teresa Collins chipboard pieces & one big button) form a visual triangle in the design.

I always like to cluster my embellishments and this layout is no exception. The sewing basket is colored in with Copic markers.

The photo is a little old but better late than never, right? It’s amazing how much kids can change in four years! And speaking of changes. Wow. Yesterday I had my first day off in almost 7 years. My “baby” started Junior Kindergarten yesterday. He’ll go every other day so it was very mixed feelings for me. It was a hard morning for me to be sure.

Sew Cute Monday

Another peek at Sew Special today. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but one of the details I’ve been using on all my Sew Special projects is stitching. it’s just such a natural fit both for me as well as the set. This design in corporates a darling little mouse image from the set, lots of stitching and some sweet green and pink paper to create a baby girl card design. If you don’t like to sew on cards, try out some faux stitching instead.

To my Feedblitz subscribers…my apologies for so many Feedblitz updates yesterday. I have no idea what is up with that!

Living in a Material World…

Well…we’re living in a material world. And of course, we wear material of some sort every day. I thought it would be fun to combine more of the Sew Special images with this Fashionista paper by Graphic 45. A very vintage material girl look. Can you imagine what it must have been like to sew every item in your wardrobe and that of your family? What a huge job! I’m so glad we have the mall now! Release date for this set is this Tuesday. 🙂

Now totally off-topic…We had the yummiest potato salad last night with shish-ka-bobs for dinner. I’m QUITE sure this is not the most diet-friendly dish but we enjoyed it. I hadn’t made it in years…over TEN! I know this because I made it once at our old house. It was from the back of a Miracle Whip salad dressing jar and hubby was mentioning it Friday night. “Why did I never make that again?” Because I had totally lost the recipe, that’s why! LOL After a little searching, I found it on the Kraft.com web-site and I’m reposting it here so that I never lose it again!

Roasted Potato Salad

4 cups quartered unpeeled small red potatoes

3/4 cup  MIRACLE WHIP or MIRACLE WHIP Light Dressing

4 slices OSCAR MAYER Center Cut Bacon, crisply cooked, crumbled

2   hard-cooked eggs, chopped

1/4 cup green onion slices

1/4 tsp.  salt

1/4 tsp. pepper

PREHEAT oven to 425°F. Place potatoes in 15x10x1-inch baking pan sprayed with cooking spray.

BAKE 30 to 35 minutes or until potatoes are tender and golden brown, stirring after 20 minutes.

MIX dressing, bacon, eggs, onions, salt and pepper in large bowl. Add potatoes; mix lightly. Serve warm or chilled.

Have a beautiful day!
