And so it begins…

Published by Julia Stainton at 7:31 am under Card Designs, Copics, Cornish Heritage Farms

And so it begins…another busy year of school, lunches, homework, practices etc. On one hand I’m so grateful for the return to scheduling, a little peace and quiet during the day but oh…I’m going to miss the long days of summer, time on the water, the smell of sunscreen, sticky ice cream kisses and lazy morning snuggles. There is just nothing quite like summer. We ended up eking out  the last few days of summer on the sand over the weekend and so it was a great way to finish up. This morning the backpacks are packed, lunches have been made, the back to school photos taken and now we’re off to meet the new teachers. Wish us luck as three of the four attending school this year are starting a new school.

Seeds of Thanks

I put this card together with some things that  I had on my desk. I love creating without any pre-conceived idea in my head…just putting things together for the fun of it.

Supply List: cardstock by Bazzill, patterned paper & Wild Card by October Afternoon, Seed annual piece by Crafty Secrets, flower by Prima, chipboard by American Crafts, sewing machine, ribbon, corsage pin

Candlelit Winter

This card is an early Christmas card using a Shady Tree Studio release, Home for the Holidays. It’s actually more of a square shaped image but I wanted it long and more narrow so I die cut it with a Spellbinders die.

Quick Tip: To create a candle glow effect, take a very light yellow Copic marker and flick the color away from flame.

Stamps: Home for the Holidays (Shady Tree Studio line) by CHF, Ink: Black Memento by Tsukineko, Paper: Simply Smooth white cardstock by CHF, kraft cardstock by Bazzill, Blush Red Dark cardstock by Prism Papers, patterned paper by Little Yellow Bicycle, Other: Nestability die by Spellbinders, button by Autumn Leaves, embroidery thread, velvet die cut by Prima, Copic Markers

Take care and have a great day!

Good luck with the new school. My kiddos have been back to school for almost a month now. Love the cards; especially the early Christmas card. Thanks for the tip on making the candle flame too.

My “kids” are all gone, but I still remember the mixed emotions of the first day of school. The hardest part was not being there for the first day of university, for the “first day of school” picture.

Love your cards, especially the Christmas one - it’s SO gorgeous!

School has been in session for almost a month for us… it starts way to soon! I love having my children home and dread the start of school.

I love the first card that you just put together with things on your desk! That is just beautiful.

Great cards, love all the layering and stuff you put together on the first one, very cool, the second is pretty, like the glow of the candle!

I hear you about school starting! It’s been crazy, especially since I started back at work the same day my little guy started school! I love your cards. That first one is pure perfection!!! Such a gorgeous mix of colors, patterns and texture!

Hi Julie, I love the 3-D effect of the Christmas card. Spellbinders are so cool to use. You have a great eye for colors. Hope all went well the first day of school. Our kids have been in class since the middle of Aug. Summer seemed pretty short this year.
