Good morning! Happy Sunday! It’s a mixed up stamp day. I’m actually not sure if that makes any sense at all but I’ve combined a lot of different stamps from a lot of different lines together to create this card. I had no idea where I was going with this when I started and just let my hands play and see what came of it. Do you ever do that? Just create for fun and see where it goes. Some days I like what happens…other days, not so much. But it’s all good to explore some creativity and I always learn something.
Now if you’ve been trying to get a hold of me….I hope you’ll be patient just a little longer. I was on vacation this past week. Pre-publishing blog posts is a wonderful thing. Laundry awaits and a few things due tomorrow but after that, I’ll get to those e-mails. Sound OK?
Sweetest Moments

Quick Tip: Instead of always layering up…why not try layering down? It always gives a project a unique look.

A black and white Christmas card? Well…why not?! Black and white is elegance at its best and I just love how perfectly this new Thomas Kinkade image stamps. Gorgeous! Christmas Moonlight is the next TK release at CHF and will be available next Friday. As you can see I did break down and add the smallest hint of color. I love lighting up those windows with the smallest touch of yellow. Stamping doesn’t get much simpler than this. And while I hate mass producing cards…this is one I just might be able to do.

I have a new Scrapblock released today. This is one I hope you’ll love as much as I do. It was a bit of a labour of love.
I love the vintage and newsprint look and thought it would be fun to have a stamp that captures the look. This Scrapblock makes a great background, a fun custom “patterned paper” layer and is also a fun way to customize embellishments. The Newspaper Ads Scrapblock works well on its own or paired up with other Scrapblocks such as Vintage Text, Vintage Ledger, Ornamental Borders etc.

Get Well Wishes

This was a fun card design to make. I cut out the cough syrup ad portion of the Scrapblock and designed the project around it. Doesn’t it make a fun get well card? If you’re looking for more ideas for this scrapblock…some of the CHF designers have some great projects here.

I couldn’t resist this weeks Summer Stamp Star design challenge. Of course I’m not entering but who says I still can’t play along?! I love resist techniques and thought it would be a great time to try out my new Newspaper Ads Scrapblock with a fun technique. That’s one thing I love about stamping. You can stamp simply or you can get a myriad of looks by changing up the technique. For this project I started off by stamping the flowers in different Memento dye inks. I then inked my Scrapblock in Versamark ink and stamped onto the paper. Any embossing ink that is clear will work in the same manner. Cover the ink with Clear embossing powder, remove excess and heat. This clear impermeable embossing with resist any ink placed on top. Lightly sponge on some Distress Ink or other dye ink and then wipe off excess.
If you came here looking for Thursday’s WT challenge. I actually took the week off and Michele Boyer has been so sweet to fill in for me. You can check out her challenge here. Thanks M!
And here’s a link for you….Becky has a great Christmas in July Giveaway on the CHF Creative Blog. Check it out!

I have a little more Christmas for you today. This new Shady Tree Studio santa is so darling. If you like homespun and sweet Christmas images, the new Just Believe stamp set is for you. Nancy has this set and two single images released this month and they are so much fun to play with. I colored this one with Copics and paired it up with Spellbinders dies and Basic Grey Wassail for traditional look. This card measures 4.25″ square. This size allows the card to fit into an A-2 size envelope easily, even with the top layer projecting over the top edge.

Quick Tip: To keep a tag embellishment just where you want it…apply a glue dot to the revers of the tag and adhere. You’ll still get a natural fall to the tag but it won’t flip and twist during shipping.
