Snowmen and Sentiments

It’s week two of CHF’s Summer Stamp Star Design Challenge and the challenge this week is paper piecing. I always love paper piecing and thought I’d play along and have some fun. I was actually inspired by one of the submissions to look at stamps in a new way and try paper piecing a stamp that I normally wouldn’t thing of trying this technique with. I was thrilled with how it turned out. The paper piecing entries so far are super creative. If you’re looking for a little inspiration…here’s a link.

This image is a sneak peek at a new Shady Tree Studio release called Embrace Christmas.  I just love the snowman with his arms wide open. I’m really excited that Lisa has a new Christmas sentiments set out from her Mona Lisa Moments line. It’s called Vintage Christmas Expressions and I love the great style to all the sentiments. You can see the entire set here.

Here’s the close-up. I popped the sentiment up on dimensional foam tape to highlight it. For the image, it was fun to get a little creative  and make a patterned fence and sky.  It sort of adds a whimsical look.

Quick Tip: Use some of the same papers for layers that you do for the paper piecing to tie the design together.
