Poppy Tuesday & giveaway

I just loved creating this card design. I’ve always loved using greens but I’m totally getting addicted to adding some red. Red and green are complementary colors which means that together they really pop. Is this poppy stamp gorgeous or what? I couldn’t resist using it again in this bolder card design. This time I’ve paired it up with the two new Scrapblocks that will be released Thursday. I can’t put them down and think they’ll be staples on my desk for a very long time. After all…they are very classic and go with almost anything. If you’re been enjoying the peeks at the new All Things Considered line, it hits the CHF store today.
To create the background on this card design, I stamped my Stitches Scrapblock in Versamark ink onto Simply Smooth White cardstock and then embossed with clear embossing powder. This forms a resist and I then spritzed a mottled background with three colors of Glimmermist. The shimmer is so rich looking in person. The resist technique is one of the five challenges for the CHF Summer Stamp Star challenge. Are you up for playing along? If you missed the deets...check them out here.
Poppy Shimmer Card

Quick Tip: Stamp large flat surfaced brads with a Scrapblock to personalize your embellishments. Stazon ink works great for this and it ties your project together.

Stitches Scrapblock by CHF
Vintage Text Scrapblock by CHF
Ink: Versamark, Black Stazon, Black Memento ink by Tsukineko
Paper: Simply Smooth White cardstock by CHF, kraft cardstock by Bazzill Basics
Other: Glimmer Mist, copic markers, brad by Karen Foster, flowers by Prima, embroidery floss by Bazzill
Now finally…the giveaway!
Thanks for sticking with me. Lots to talk about this morning.
I’ve given you a few sneak peeks at my new Scrapblocks being released this Thursday, Vintage Text and Stitches Scrapblocks. I’m so excited about them I thought it would be fun to do an early giveaway. I have both Scrapblocks to give to ONE lucky winner. I’d love to know what kinds of projects you would use them for. Comment on this entry for a chance to win, before Wednesday June 17th at 11 pm EST. Winner will be drawn randomly by an on-line integer generator. I’ll be posting the winner Thursday morning.

Scrapblocks are 6″x6″ large background stamps of red rubber. They can be used with a large square acrylic block but often, I just use them on there own by laying them face-up on my worksurface.
Good luck and thanks for stopping by!
Julia

I love this card you made Julia! It’s so beautiful! I love the Scrapblocks! I have a few of them and they are so versatile. I would use these particular two a lot as they are universal and will go with anything. Thanks so much for the giveaway!

Hello there Julia. Oooh luv your card - they are my signature colours - red and green. Looks fabulous. Well done.
Hey thanks for the chance at these Scrapblocks - I would absolutely love them. I make a lot of 6 x 6 cards so these stamps would be perfect coverage as backgrounds instead of having to try and line up the stamping to get an all over pattern.
Thanks for the chance to win.
Luv Sandie
Julia, this is a beautiful card. What a week of wonderful releases for CHF! I love both of these scrapblocks as well as the new ATC line. These are perfect for vintage cards and Valentines. Since I am sewing machine challenged (I have one, but it’s still going to take a lot of practice to make my stitches look nice on cards), the stitches scrapblock would give me the “homestyle” look I’m after on my cards. Thanks for the chance to win and for sharing your projects this past week.
I especially love the sewing sampler scrapblock, since I am also a sewer. I’m sure I can find lots of card ideas to use this lovely stamp. Thanks so much for the chance to win. Hugs, Nellie.
I love these 2 blocks. I can see them in vintage tag cards, wedding themed or soft hues for baby cards. Just gorgeous samples too. Thanks!
Wow! I just love both of these background stamps. So unique and versatile. You make the nicest cards and have great ideas. Thanks!
I’ve been dabbling with using words and music background papers. Your stamps are wonderful and would be a great saving on printer ink! I love the sewing block of stitches the best , especially, having been a Home Economics teacher. Thanks for your generous opportunity to win them. ^o^ CM2
Wow, beautiful card Julia…
I love the bg’s. I would use them for accenting dp’s and for making my own dp’s. These are both great and versatile.
Gorgeous card Julia. I love the embroidery floss around the element. Super cute!
Your new scrapblocks are adorable. I would use them on my cards as backgrounds or use just a small piece to stamp on top of like your flower above. I love that look.
Hi Julia,
I’d use the stamps to make background paper and possibly ink up the stamp then use it as a stamp pad with a solid flower stamp. Make sense?
Thanks for the chance to win your great stamps!!
have a great day!
Debbie
wow…..your card is absolutely gorgeous Julia…what fabulous scrapblocks!!! I could definitely use both in my card designs…such versatile images!!!!!
Another beautiful card with ATC stamps and backgrounds .The scrapblocks giveaway is more than generous - would love to add them to my ever growing CHF stash (you are an enabler, teasing me with your cards). Thanks for the opportunity.
Two of the best Scrapblocks yet! I’ve hunted and hunted for paper.. stamps.. anything that looks like newspaper print. And now I’ve found it!! WOW! You’ve displayed the varied uses of both the new blocks beautifully. Thanks so much,
Judith
those are some gorgeous scrapblocks! I can see myself using the print for collage style projects….stamping on anything I can find…acetate ghost shapes, flowers, buttons, paper…YUM!
I love the stitches too….so fun!
I would use them on cardstock to be cut into alphabet letters.
They would be unique.
These Scrapblocks are wonderful and the Vintage Text works so well on your card in no only one but in two places. The Stitches Scrapblock is beautiful. It reminds me of the embroidery on my Norwegian Grandmother’s linens that she had at her house. What a lovely addition to a stampers collection these two would be! Thanks for the giveaway!
Absolutely lovely card again. Thanks for sharing….and for the chance to win.
Love both of these scrapblocks! I may have to get an early start on some Christmas cards!
I love the word one. It is generic enough to use for both mail and female cards.
Love your work! These are very useful background stamps. Id love to win! Ideas are swirling in my head as to how I’d use them.
I love these! I love the newspaper one! I could use that alot on cards to spice up my cardstock. And you’re right, those colors are great together!
I love scrapblocks, I like them for making my own background paper!! These are both great!!
Your card is beautiful. And these background stamps look like so much fun to work with. I enjoy cardmaking and making my own pattern paper to add to the cards. Thanks for the chance to win.
Hi Julia -
Your releases this month are absolutely fabulous! I would love to have both of these Scrapblocks to create my own DP - and to enhance the collages and Masterboards I have just started to experiment with.
Thanks for the opportunity - and for sharing your beautiful work every day!
Beautiful as always! Love these stamps. I would use them for making cards, tags and anything else I think up.
Oh, your card is awesome, Julia. I love your new backgrounds. I use background stamps more than patterned paper, because you can make them any color and use different techniques with them. I haven’t tried the resist with glimmer mist yet. Way cool.
The scrapblocks are super! I love the few that I own from CHF and these looks so useful too!
I love the colors you used to make this card and glimmer mist…. that is really neat. You always make everything beatiful!
Thank you for sharing.
Gorgeous card, Julia! I ordered Botanical Bliss first thing this morning
I would love to win those Scrapblocks - LOVE the vintage text, and I’m thinking I could use the stitching block for some quilt-themed cards for my quilt-crazy Mom… oh, the possibilities are endless! Thanks for a chance to win.
This is so beautiful! I thought you stamped on pattern paper at first viewing! You created such layered, textured beautiful works! These scrapblocks are amazing - love these new designs. I would love to use these for cards - I have some beautiful lace ribbons and vintage buttons that would look great with it.
Hi Julia,
I just recently became a customer of CHF because I fell in LOVE with your Ornamental Borders Scrapblock. Then I broke a rule of mine. I hate cutting stamps out, but I had to buy the Ornamental Beauty Set. They are absolutely beautiful together and apart. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent with everyone. Hope you have a wonderful summer.
P.S. I just saw that CHF will cut the stamps for you for an additional price. To me, it’s worth it since I do not like my cutting abilities!
All Good Things,
Trish
I LOVE these new scrapblocks!! I finally broke down a month or so ago and bought distressed dots and grid and I LOVE EM!!! I was worried because I didn’t have a block that size but they work fabulous without one. I use mine for cardmaking mostly but I did use them on one layout. I can’t wait to get my hands on the text block, I can’t always find text paper I like and this will solve all of that
Love the text scrapblock… I can see doing all kinds of techniques with it… My favorite right now is a paint resist with the text peaking out…. Wow…
I really like these background stamps. My sister quilts and sews and I can see using the stitched background one on cards for her.
I knew the first time I saw the Vintage Text scrapblock that I would be wanting it for my scrapbook pages. I can incorporate it into my card designs as well, but my instinct was saying I needed it for my pages!!!! The stitches will be nice for pages too, but I am thinking I would use it mostly on cards! I’m building my scrapblock inventory right now, the giant acrylic block is WELL worth having, and I treat myself to a new scrapblock everytime I order from CHF! I don’t think there is a page I do that doesn’t have some background stamping on it of some kind!!!
Trudi
Excellent job as usual showcasing the awesome stamps at Cornish Heritage Farms. I love these new background stamps! I imagine using them on tags, ATC’s and paper dolls to name just a few uses. Thanks for the chance to win.
Love your card and these new stamps. I would love using these as card backgrounds. I immediately pictured the stitches scrapblock as a background for a quilted Top Note (from SU) card with the quilted blocks stitched on my sewing machine. What fun. Thanks for the chance to win.
Hey Julia, I love both of your new Scrapblocks. I think they would both look neat with a portion highlighted by inking in a different colour (probably using a marker to ink). And of course, backgrounds for all kinds of cards!
Oh I love how you used the stitching one with the red ink. Gorgeous. I think I’d like to try that technique as well. And I can always used the text…on anything and everything.
Those would be awesome for cards, tags and scrapbook pages! I love them both!!
I just love your blog. I make cards, but not as often as layouts. Your stuff is always so inspiring. I would love to get my hands on the text stamp especially. I love the look of vintage paper, but just haven’t been able to take the plunge and tear up an old book. It just seems wrong to me. I’d love to make my “own” vintage paper.
Super cool stamps! Thanks for the chance to win!
The poppy card is just lovely. And, I really like your new Scrapblocks. I think I might cut up the stitches (after stamping of course) to use as borders, etc. but the newsprint would be used in numerous ways. The first that comes to mind would be to stamp it and then us a die cut to cut it into flowers that would be great embellishments for vintage cards. Sure hope I win them! Thanks for the kind offer.
Julia,
thanks for the chance to win these! So many neat ideas to use these scrap blocks! I’ve been reading all the previous replies and they’re all great ideas. I didn’t know until today what a scrap block was! So, my ideas aren’t mine they’re everyone elses.
What a beautiful card! Don’t you just love the glimmer mists? I just bought some and would love to try the technique you used on this card with the scrapblocks. Thanks for the chance to win!
Hi Julia,
Every time I see a gorgeous card you make with these sets, I think “It can’t get any better than this!” - only, you’ve done it! Love, love, love this card!
I love the Scrapblocks too - and there are so many ways to use them! The Vintage Text is perfect for a “guy” card - it’s not easy finding DP for them in the first place, and then having the option of making a background in any colour I want, on any coloured background - how perfect is that?
I’m a quilter too, and I often use sewing- and quilting-related stamps on the envelopes I send my quilt swap blocks in. Using the Stitches scrapblock would enable me to make designer envelopes, note paper or cards….the ideas are tumbling in my brain faster than I can write!
Thanks for giving these stamps away - you’re going to make someone VERY happy!
I like the card, it captures my attention. I have never tried these blocks but and drawn to this kind of background and have done it many times with smaller stamps. I am ready to give it a try.
What a generous giveaway! I really love both these scrapblocks. How would I use them? They look really versatile. I would use them to make my own patterned paper and backgrounds for cards, and I would use Stitches for borders, and the words for collaging. They also look like the would be useful for adding elements of texture to complement a card that had other design elements. I think these will be staples on my stamp desk too!
What fantastic scrapblocks - my goodness, their use is endless so such a good investment.
I can see then used in so many colours as backing ‘papers’ without the worry of cutting them out - having such blocks to hand you can colour co-ordinate with whatever stamps, papers, and colourways.
You can stamp on paper, and cut out all shapes, with punches, nestibilities, and any dies, use them for working with templates - eg the birdhouses, tags, etc.
I would stamp images on them and cut them out - they would make great ephemera - oh how I would love to win them.
Thank you for the chance
Love the scrapblocks. The text one is great for all things manly, school oriented ot how about using it all alone with the sentiment “Have alot to say?” and send it to a friend that just had a vent release moment! The stitiches are just cool vintage look that could background lots of flower cards. Thanks for the chance to win.
Love those block stamps as background stamps the way HeroArts artists use them. With some distressing, vintage look would be lovely. Thanks for the chance to win.
I love the effect of the scrapblocks. I was a counted thread stitcher for years before venturing into scrapbooking and card making. The stitches stamp would make a great background for cards to send to my ‘old’ stitching friends! The text stamp would come in really handy just because it’s so versatile. Right now I’m working on heritage books for both sides of my family, so I’d love to use this to create a vintage look to my pages.
Oh your card is just beautiful!! I do love your red and green a lot. I cannot wait for the text background stamp - I think I would use that one a lot! I will stamp it on everything, including die cuts. I just love that look. I also really like the stitches one! I love how you embossed it!
Oh! So pretty! I love the scrapblocks for backgrounds of course and for stamping on other embellies, like paper or fabric flowers, chipboard and ribbon! I love how versatile these both are. Staples for sure!
As always, your work is lovely Julia! Thanks for continuing to share it with us.
What a fun give away! I think these blocks would be great for making card backgrounds (like you did above - that red “sheet” looks super). And also, I can see punching out flowers from stamped images, or glueing it to clear buttons. So many great possiblities!
LOVE both of these! I would use them on cards. Thanks for the chance to win them.
What a beautiful card! and my two favorite colors! Those stamp blocks are amazing. I use all of my stamps on cards! I love the stitching look but never seem to get the machine out!
These are both great background stamps, Julia, and I love how you combined them on one card. Your use of color really made a difference on this card so it wasn’t overwhelming with the different prints.
Fab card Julia as always! Lovet he red background and the pretty poppy flower. I love background stamps… use them all the time on me cards. Thanks for the yummy blog candy!
I really like your vintage-style cards! The new Scrapblocks stamps are going to be a hit!
Thanks for the chance - great cards. I would use the stamps for cards and backgrounds on my scrapbook pages.
Beautiful card! I think the Text Scrapblock would be cool to use for the kissing technique and am NOT a seamstress so the Stitches Scrapblock really appeals to me!
Another gorgeous card Julia!
Hi Julia! Wow- these are cool! I’m in a groove of making cards for quilters, so I think these would work just right for that! Thanks for the chance to win them!
Love the card and the new stamps!!!
Wow, such a gorgeous card! I cant wait to get my hands on the stitches scrap block. I think that would make fabulous backgrounds for flower themed cards. And the vintage text would work great for masculine themed cards. I have hardly used a standard background since I got my first scrap block!
Thanks for a chance to win!
Wow, I love your poppy card, poppies are one of my favorite flowers and I love these two scrapblocks, they both are so versitile. The text would be great to stamp and then diecut, flowers, leaves, frames…oh the possibilities are endless. The stitching would make a great background alone or cut apart (EEK!) to use as faux stitching. Thanks for the chance to win!
I really like both of these new scrapblocks……..they would look great on either masculine or feminine cards.
Thanks for the opportunity to win these two!!
I love these scrapblocks, especially the vintage text one. They would be great as DP or to stamp images on and do paper peicing, or for so many other things. If a person was careful, they could make borders with the stitched one. Your cards are gorgeous and I really love the new ATC line! I love the way you stamped the vintage text on the big brad!
I love these scrapblocks! The red stitches with resist technique is just lovely! The vintage text would go with everything! Thank you for the chance to win!
These are great scrapblocks! I can see using the vintage text one for cards and bookmarks for my book group and the stitches on lots of “cozy” kinds of cards . . . Very nice!
Hi Julia: I love your cards! Those two scrapblocks are both two of my favorite things: Words/reading, etc. and sewing. I would love to have them to make cards, scrapbook, maybe some textile/canvas related crafting.
Hi Julia, I love this card. The stamps are beautiful. I would love to win this giveaway. The newsprint background would be great for masculine cards, which are sometimes a challenge. And the stitching background?…. well for someone who cannot seam
to sew a straight line, it would be perfect!
Love your cards, projects and tips you share.
I like script on cards and really like the way you used the stamps. I also like sewing, not very good at it, and like the look on cards. The block would be perfect! Thanks for a chance to win.
Really cool Julia! The red and green is definitely great together…
I only have a few background stamps (none CHF), but I feel background challenged! Would be great to get some to practice with!!! (wink wink!)
Thanks for being so generous!
Diane
Oooh, thanx for the inspiration and chance at the t’riffic blog candy! I’m thinking I’d use the stitches both as bk and to faux stitch pieces together on a card; I love the printed text as a bk!
Love your card and the two scrapblocks! I’d love to use them on my cards and to make my own background papers. Thanks so much for the chance to win!
Great card. Oh the fun I could have with the stitching scrapblock. Imagine gift wrap paper for a little needleworker, quilter or sewer! And cards galore! Keeping my fingers crossed!
I love the poppy card! I am just a sucker for text - stamps, old books, dictionary pages, anything. These scrapblocks are just great! Thanks for sharing your card and for the chance to win
What neat blocks! Thanks for sharing with us! I enjoy your blog so much! I get great inspiration here!
Julia,
That will work wonders for SOOOOO many ideas!! Any “news” like a new baby, a new home, etc etc!! That one just makes me soooo happy!!
And the stitching is so pretty - I can see that on a feminine card and one for a friend maybe as a get well card!! And of course for a mother or grandma that is a seamstress/sewing person!!
LOVE these scrapblocks!! My favorite because I sell advertising for a newspaper, is the newsprint looking one!!
I already have ideas in mind for the stitches scrapblock - I have several sets from other companies that have sewing items like an old sewing machine and ect. and it would be great paired up with them!!!
Love the stitches done with the glimmer mist - just beautiful!!!!
I will be using them for Father day’s card or wedding cards.
I love both of your new scrapblock stamps. I think both of them are so versatile. I love the vintage feel of them. I have been enjoying embroidering tea towels lately. The stitches scrapblock would be perfect for a small embroidered piece. And, when I finally get around to selling some, it would make a fun tag!
i would use them on cards. thanks.
I love to make cards, so there would be so many possibilities with these!
Love the card! (as always!!) I would use the newspaper Scrapblock for some cool effects on cards on in layouts and the other, for cool edges on cards and backgrounds. Just gorgeous!
I LOVE these 2 new blocks! I would use them on vintage cards, but they would work well for scrap pages, too! Thanks for the chance to win!
Love the scrapblock. I am a total fan of them. Use the script one all the time. Like the vintage look. Love ur green and red cards. I am a fan. In fact am doing my living room over in those colours adding a bit of gold. The stitches block is alot easier than sewing on cards although I am an avid sewer…would like to remain at the table. Thanks for sharing and giving us an oppurtunity to win.
I love your two new designs of scrapblocks. Lately I have been making some home decor items to frame and hang on the walls. I can see lots of possiblities using these new scrapblocks. Keep up the great design work!
Beautiful card! I love the “word” scrapblock and would use it for my scrapbook pages. Perfect for background or making embellishments with. Thanks for a chance to win!
I am totally hooked on these new stamp images…..I love all things vintage and it is hard for me to figure out how to put everything together. With these scrapblocks and your beautiful new sets, everything is right there together—easy to mix and match. I would use these for cards and tags….I want them ALL!
LeAnne
Scrapblocks are one of my favorite CHF things to play with and I only own two! I’m so happy you’re coming out with more, Julia. They are real beauties too. I love the way you’ve stamped on the big brad - great idea to remember.
WHOA! Love the stitches scrapblock so much! My mom is a Master Quilter and teacher so we create cards to give to her students when they donate their first quilt to a needy local cause. This block would make a beautiful background for our thank you notes!
have a great day!
these cards are amazing and I’d love to win these stamps!
I would be using the stitching images as a background as you did, and possibly picking out a particular row of stitching to ink with a marker. I have been really liking the newpaper print image backgounds too - yup, I need ‘em!
Love these cards!! I can already see (in my little mind’s eye) what I can make with these scrapblocks. I have so many ideas yet so few products - chuckle - but I’m working on it!
Here’s hoping I am lucky enough to win
Thanks for the chance, Julia.
Love these! Great stamps, Julia!
Wow, this card is just gorgeous Julia!! Both of your scrapblocks are great! I’m not a seamstress so that Stitches would give a card a warm handmade feel! And the Vintage Text would go great with a resist technique! Great job!
Oooo, I really love that big ole text scrapblock! soooo many possibilities! And the stitches? Those would be great!!!!! Thanks for the chance to win!
Your card is a beauty! These two scrapblocks may be my favorites yet! I always reach for text stamps to make backgrounds for my cards and ATCs, and this one will be perfect! I love it that the text is not too large — it works great on that big brad.
Thanks for sharing all of your wonderful ideas!
Oh, Julia! What stunning cards! And I love these scrapblocks… I can see making DP with them… stamping DP with them… die-cutting the stamped papers… using portions of the stamp to create “elements” on patterned papers… oh, the possibilities!! I would love to win these fabulous stamps. Thank you so much for the opportunity!
Your backgrounds are fabulous, J! I really love the look of those stitches in white! (I’m so proud of you!)
Love both stamps and what you did with them on your card. The red and green together looks great. Thanks for all you inspiration. I’d like to try the techniques you did.
Love the stitched background and the flower center is cool!
