I love Buttons

Published by Julia Stainton at 6:29 am under Card Designs, Copics, Cornish Heritage Farms

I love buttons. I do. They are such a great inexpensive embellishment and they work well with so many styles. Shabby, vintage, cute, modern…what’s not to love? My favorite way to add buttons is in clusters. The more the merrier. Buttons make great accents on patterned paper, you can arrange them to make a shape and I love the depth and texture they add to a project. It’s no surprise then,  that today’s challenge is Ways to Use Buttons. Have fun with it and check out the challenge here. I’d love to have you play along.

Button Blooms

This fun, clean and simple design features buttons to look like spring flowers along the fence like. I created this little scene using Kim Hughes’ Summer Trees stamp set. The little picket fence is one of my favorite images and of course the curves on those clouds. No one draws curves like Kim! I was trying to decide how to add flowers to the fence line when I thought of buttons. I usually use the larger buttons first so this was the perfect design to use up lots of the little buttons in the package. BTW if you’re looking for buttons, my favorite package to buy is from Autumn Leaves. The packages are great for storing the buttons in and they seem to last forever. I’m still using up one of the bags that I bought a couple years ago!

Quick Tip: Don’t be afraid to draw in your own elements when creating a stamped scene. It’s super easy to add brush strokes for grass, little birds, flowers…whatever you can think up.
