Sheltering tree

Published by Julia Stainton at 11:10 am under Card Designs, Copics, Cornish Heritage Farms

Good morning! Happy Friday! It’s supposed to be a beautiful weekend here and I hope you have one too. It’s also the first day of May. Where DID the first third of this year go?!! It’s unbelievable! I have a little birdhouse card design to share with you today but before I do that…I want to get right to the winner of the Mother’s Day giveaway. I’m hoping to get it out in the mail this afternoon as soon as I get an address. The winning number #63 was chosen with the random.org interger generator. Darlene Gabriel said…

How sweet of you to offer this to celebrate Mother’s Day. I’m fortunate also to still have my mom fairly close by. I am also a mom to an amazing son. Thanks Julia and hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day.

Congrats Darlene! Please e-mail with your address so I can get this on its way! I so enjoyed all of your lovely comments about the wonderful mothers and families you all have. What a treasure! Thanks for taking the time to comment and enjoy your upcoming Mother’s Days.

I found the sketch layout for this design on the Got Sketch site. It seemed to me in the layout that the  upper patterns were lighter so I interpreted it with a vellum overlay. Of course this begged for some stamping so I stamped the Thatch Birdhouse stamp on the right side of the vellum.I then turned it over and colored the back side of the vellum with some Copic markers. A little knotted piece of twine makes it look a little more realistic. I was looking through my stash of rubber to find an appropriate sentiment when I came across this one from the Friend Centers set. How perfect is…Friendship is a sheltering tree? A few more embellies and some stitching and my card was finished up.

Quick Tip: Lay vellum over patterned paper to make it appear more subtle.

Take care and have a fabulous day!
