24 hour Mother’s Day Giveaway

Published by Julia Stainton at 9:09 am under Blog Misc

I’ve been spending the past week, trying to sort through my stash of goodies once again. I think it must multiply overnight! While sorting the other day, I thought it would be fun to put together a quick Mother’s Day giveaway and share some fun things with you. Now this may be one of the quickest turn-arounds you’ll ever see here because I want to get this out in the mail. I know it’s slow and Mother’s Day is creeping up more quickly than I had thought.

For a chance to win, you must be a mom, have a mom you’ll either share with or make a card for with the goodies  or even share with a friend who is a mom. I want to take the time to celebrate those special people in our lives. I miss my mom so much but I am blessed to have a wonderful family and an aunt who is like a mom to me. Simply leave a comment on this post between now and 10 am EST tomorrow. I’ll be drawing one name right away so that I can get it in the mail before the weekend. We don’t have mail here in Canada on Saturdays and I’m hoping the winner will get it in time.

Thank you Julia. What a great present.
I am a mom of 3. My mom lives very far away, so I will not be able to make a card WITH her, but I will definitely make a card FOR her.

  9. Adairon 30 Apr 2009 at 9:40 am

How sweet of you to do this, Julia! I am a mom of 2. Unfortunately, my Mom is no longer with me, but have a special person in my life who has become my mom/sister. I feel so blessed to have her! Oh, and by the way, I LOVE following your blog! Your talent never ceases to amaze me!

Thank you for the opportunity to win! I have the blessing of being a Mother, StepMother, Adoptive Mother and Grandmother!
Yeah me!!!! I love making cards for all my children and of course, my own Mother.

  11. Candyon 30 Apr 2009 at 9:49 am

Thank you for your generosity. My Mom is gone but I’m a Mom and Grandmother of six so my life is still full. I always make my daughter and daughter-in-law a Mother’s Day card — I think Mom’s can never get too much recognition.

  12. Dooreen Rousseauon 30 Apr 2009 at 9:53 am

I miss my Mom every day! I think of her so often and I am reminded of her in everything I do. Her hands, her laughter, her hugs. God bless Mom’s everywhere! I will be buying a flowering almond bush in her memory - she loved the smell of that in the spring. It sat right near the front door.

  13. Anne Ron 30 Apr 2009 at 9:55 am

Hi Julia. Thank you for the chance to win this lovely ‘candy’. I’m not a mom but I have a mom - she’ll be 81 on May 20th and still going strong as ever. I have a friend that I get together with often for carding days and I’d love to be able to share this with her.

  14. Janeon 30 Apr 2009 at 10:00 am

  15. Sandraon 30 Apr 2009 at 10:05 am

Julia, I have to admit that I did not appreciate my own mother until I became a “Mommy”. Now, I have been blessed to have my parents move to be close by and we live a block away from eachother!!! She is my best friend and my daughter and Grandma are two peas in a pod!!! Thanks as always, Sandra

  16. KellyRaeon 30 Apr 2009 at 10:07 am

My mom is still with us (of which I am very thankful) but I also had her youngest sister as another ‘mom’ to cherish through the years. They both got me started with stamping and every day that I put ink to rubber, I think of them. This is a great little blog candy. I am a mother of 3 and a grandmom to 8.

  17. loree2000on 30 Apr 2009 at 10:11 am

Julia, I’m sorry your mother is no longer with you! It’s very sweet of you to think of others during this holiday. I wouldn’t know what to do w/o my mother. We share everything! I’m actually getting her started into stamping….For Mother’s Day I’m going to give her a Hobby Lobby gift card. I’m sure she would love having some of this stash! :)

How nice of you to think of mom(s)! I was born on Mother’s Day and although my Bday doesn’t always fall on Mother’s Day, mom and I spend the day together…..and now my oldest son and his wife host Mom’s day at their house for all the mothers in our immediate family….and boy the size of the crowd is growing!

  22. Sueon 30 Apr 2009 at 10:43 am

I am a mom. No greater calling in life than to have this title. Kids bring more joy, sunshine and happiness into anyones life. It doesn’t matter what the age of your child is. Mine our both married now and I am an empty nester but they always come home. Waiting for the day when I am promoted to the grandmother…then I am sure that will be the highest calling in life.
    Thanks
    Julia

I’m a mom to two girls. I may not always appreciate my mom but this year my heart is breaking for her heart. She’s gone to visit my sister in BC. Yes, I live in Canada too. My sister isn’t making good life choices so my mom has gone to try to help her make some good choices to get on the right road. They both need prayer at this time.
Thanks for the chance to win.

  25. Val Son 30 Apr 2009 at 10:49 am

  26. Medaon 30 Apr 2009 at 11:00 am

I am not a mom but I have a cousin who has just given birth to a baby boy. She is younger than me. I think she was so brave to have a child as she is not married for long. I wish I had her courage! I really admire her.

  27. Stacy Kennedyon 30 Apr 2009 at 11:09 am

I cannot say how much I ADORE your blog… or how many times I have needed your advice at just the right time!!

I am not a mom, but have been praying for God to make me a Mommy for over four years. Winning this little contest would mean more than I can say.

So, if I win, I promise to make Mother’s Day cards for my Mom, Stepmom, Grandmother, and even the “Spiritual Moms” in my life who all deserve to be told over and over how much their nurturing has meant to me.

    Blessings, :)stacy

I have been wanting to make my mother and mother in-law a card for mothers day. I feel like it would be more personal! I love all the cute things you have to giveaway.

  35. Sandion 30 Apr 2009 at 11:35 am

I lost my mom about 13 years ago and Mother’s Day is still hard for me. My daughter, however, always manages to give me the best Mother’s Day cards though. She always knows the right thing to say. Since I’ve been making and selling cards, I’ve enjoyed making them for my friends’ Mom’s the most. They call me every year to see when I will have them done so they can get first pick. It makes not having my mom around a little easier….knowing they care enough to send a handmade card picked especially for their mom.

  36. Jannetteon 30 Apr 2009 at 11:35 am

Happy Mother’s Day to you Julia! I don’t think any of my kids will be home for Mother’s Day, but DH and I got to spend last Sunday with our son, and both my girls and I make cards together every chance we get.
    I appreciate your generosity!

  37. Cassandraon 30 Apr 2009 at 11:45 am

Happy early mom day, Julia. I am a mom and I have been blessed with a mother who has been my rock and helping me raise my children alone. She is very valuable and loved. I am thankful to have her in my life and my childrens. She is truly amazing.

  44. Heather Mon 30 Apr 2009 at 12:22 pm

What a wonderful way to celebrate Moms! I often give my Mom a card (handmade, natch!) just because. Sometimes it’s a thank you, but trumped up to be a big deal, cos I know she loves setting the cards out on the piano with her pics of the grand kids and all. My best friend and I share all kinds of ideas and products as we make cards together, in both french & English.
Two gals and their Moms will all be over the moon to win these wonderful toys!
Thanks for the chance to win, Julia.

You are so sweet to be doing this. My mom is 79 years young and I’m so blessed to still have her. She only retired from working when she was 78.

I plan on making a card for her for Mother’s Day and I’m working on making a stash of cards for her to give away. She really can’t afford to mail cards anymore, so I like to help her out.

thanks for the opportunity and beautiful artwork you creat for us.

  51. Krystalon 30 Apr 2009 at 1:48 pm

Currently, my daughters and I are living with my mom while my husband is deployed to the Middle East for a year. I’ve been making cards for years and got my mother creating her own cards a few years ago. We both look forward to creating together while we are living together. It’s wonderful to hear your story and see an example that even when our moms aren’t here with us there are others who support us just like they would. Thank you for your great blog and amazing creativity.

I don’t see my granddaughters or their two daughters much, but see my grandsons a lot. Children are such a joy when growing up (as you well know). I wish all moms a very happy mothers day

What a fabulous give away! My Mama lives in Northern Idaho. Its not easy during the Winter months to visit because of all the snow in the Mountains. I haven’t seen her since September.. The longest that I can remember. She had a trip planned in March but all flights were canceled because of snow! She’s going to try again mid May… I think the week after Mothers Day! I hope it works out! I can hardly wait to see her and give her a big hug and kiss!

  74. Elaineon 30 Apr 2009 at 6:20 pm

What a thoughtful giveaway Julia, thank you! I am so blessed to have not only my mom, but a fantastic mother-in-law too; they both turned 79 this year; over the past few months, I’ve been having my mom over and stamping with her; she has thouroughly enjoyed learning how to make cards and even more, sending them out with a note that says “I made this”!!! Now I just wish I had started crafting with her sooner!
I hope your Mother’s Day is filled with special memories of your dear mom!

I tend to think that mothering goes beyond physically having children of your own. And cardmakers everywhere who send handmade gifts of their time and talents find themselves caring for and mothering many people. In many ways, I think our hobby is all about mothering. Thanks for sharing gifts that help remind us of that.

Aw, I miss my mom too! I am a mom to a 26-year old daughter, and I have two mothers-in-law (one’s a step!) and they are both absolutely wonderful, I love them all! But I know what you mean about your mom. I can still hear her voice in my head, the intonation of it as she spoke my name! Thanks for such a wonderful chance to win such nice items! I enjoy all your work so much.

What a great idea. I have so much stuff I should share with others too!!!
I’m a busy mom of three (7,3,2)!!! My mom isn’t a crafter but I still need to make her card. Guess I better get to work :)

    What a great giveaway!!

I love to make cards and this would help get me in the mood to make my Mom a nice one this year!!

  91. Rachelon 30 Apr 2009 at 10:00 pm

I would love to share these with my mom! I love making cards with her and we often “borrow” eachother’s supplies. I guess share is a better term since they don’t usually end up back in the stash!

Happy (early) Mother’s Day, Julia! I feel so blessed to be a Mom and a Grandma and I count my blessings that my Mom (age 83) is still alive. It’s just so wonderful to have memories of the things we did with our Mothers. Thanks for a chance to win the loot. :o)

Hi Julia, I am a daughter and a mother and a grandmother (lucky, lucky me ;-). My mom passed away several years ago, but I will always cherish my memories of the last Mother’s Day she was able to spend with the family. However, moving forward we should all honor our mothers by living our lives to enjoy life, our children and their children and celebrate each and every day that is a gift to us!

  98. Debraon 01 May 2009 at 12:05 am

What a great idea for a giveaway! I am a mom to 2 and I love to make cards. My mom is also a crafter but she prefers to make little books. Regardless, I’ll make a card for her rather than with her.

  99. Lindaon 01 May 2009 at 12:55 am

Hi Julie, What a wonderful thought. This is a nice way to honor your Mom even though she is no longer with you. My Mom will turn 83 this May. She is still has a strong body but we are losing her mind to Alzhiemer diease. So I cherish the time we have together now. Thanks for the chance of some blog candy. This is very generous of you. Enjoy your Mother’s Day.

What a sweet giveaway. I would love to use this to make cards for my mom and my mother-in-law. I would also share the goodies with my sister in law who is going to be a mom herself later this year. Thank you so much for the chance to enter!

  112. Laurelon 01 May 2009 at 8:32 am

I have a wonderful mom, and I am a mom (I hope a wonderful one too!).

  113. Katrinon 01 May 2009 at 8:46 am

    What a wonderful candy!
Not only my mother gets tons of handcrafted cards (and bookmarks, magnets,…), but also my maunt. She’s more than an aunt to me, and because she calls me her daughter, I call her maunt. A mixture between mom and aunt.
So every Mother’s Day, I’m not only thanking my mother for how wonderful she is, but also my maunt for loving me like one of her own.
Thanks for the chance to win!

  114. Rebeccaon 01 May 2009 at 9:10 am

Ooo, wouldn’t I love to make a card with my mom with these! I love to make my own cards and now I have inspired my mom to make cards, too, so this would be a lovely giveaway for us to share and make cards together.
