Back at the Challenge & Beautiful U

Published by Julia Stainton at 7:00 am under Card Designs, Cornish Heritage Farms

Wow, it seemed as though I hardly blinked and March was gone! Crazy month! I really needed the time to get work done and also work through those classes I was taking. I’m excited to be back hosting the Ways to Use it Challenges though. Thanks so much to Kim, Michele, Kristine and Joanne for hosting such awesome challenges while I was “gone”! Today I’m right back in the swing of things with a challenge that may be a bit tricky, depending on your stash but I’m sure you can play along. It’s called…

Foiled Again

If you’re thinking that the challenge is to use foil in your work, you’d be right. Aluminum foil, metal foil sheets, or how about that foil that you can use with the specialty adhesive rub-ons? Maybe those gold foiling flakes that they carry at the craft stores would work for you.

Today’s challenge design is also the first sneak peek at my new stamp set. It’s for the Rummage Bin line and it’s called Ornamental Beauty.

edited to add… thanks so much ladies for your lovely responses! I thought I had written the release date here but perhaps I missed doing that. The Ornamental Beauty set will be released Tuesday April 7th from Cornish Heritage Farms. If you subscribe to their newsletter, there will probably be a peek at the entire set tomorrow. If not…I’ll be sharing more sneak peeks here Saturday through Tuesday.

Beautiful U

To create this design, I got to use three new goodies…. the new Labels Four Spellbinders dies,  the Basic Grey 6×6 Porcelain paper pad and of course, Ornamental Beauty. I love circle elements and played up on this one by die-cutting andembossing it before matting. Layering circles on top of other die-cut shapes makes and interesting look as well. While you can’t tell from this project, the Beautiful U is a separate stamp making the set very flexible. I’ve designed other elements to fit in there as well. You can punch or die-cut this circle out with a 2 or 2.25″ size punch. Also part of this set is a border. I love borders and there is so much you can do with them. For this design I simply stamped them onto a subtle patterned paper to add interest and accent the horizontal lines of this design.

Quick Tip: Metal sheets work wonderfully in a die cutting machine. I die cut mine and then embossed it. I wanted a very subtle look so I ran it through the Cuttlebug again, this time ON TOP of the embossing folder to flatten out most of the embossing.

Hope you enjoy the challenge!

Thanks for stopping  by and have a fabulous day!
