Simply Saturday…simply friendship

Today’s design is as the title suggests, a simple one. I love this clean stamping style and its been a while since I’ve actually done some sponging like this. This design features an embossed resist. For someone who rarely embosses…two embossing posts in a row! Hmmmmm… Actually, I think one of the reasons I rarely emboss is I really got over…wayyyy over…that gold or silver embossed look. But I’ve used Clear embossing powder for all these designs and I love it’s classic look. I think I’ll be pulling it out more often!

If you’re not familiar with the emboss resist technique, it’s one of the easiest stamping techniques to do. I especially like it over a fine stamped background image such as this text or a Scrapblock but you really don’t need to do that if you don’t want to. Basically how it works is that you stamp your images (I stamped the flower and leaves) in Versamark ink or any clear embossing ink and then emboss it with clear embossing powder. It’s very difficult to see at this point but here’s where the fun comes in. Use a dye based ink and sponge it onto the image. The embossed areas are resisted and will appear white like your paper. If you’re not wanting to sponge the ink, you can also watercolor it on like I did in this design or spray on your color with a product such as Glimmer Mist. Sample of that here. This design uses Kim Hughes’ new Collage Elements I stamp set. I’m loving it so much that you’re going to be seeing it used a lot here. It’s so flexible. And see the title of it…Collage Elements I? Hmmmm…I actually haven’t asked but I’d be willing to bet Kim has another set to coordinate up her sleeve.

Have a simply wonderful Saturday!
