Good morning and welcome to Monday!
This is a design I had a little fun with. A little paper tearing and some colored pencil on Kraft made this design a fun card to design. Colored Pencils seem to take on a different feel when used on different cardstocks.
Special to Me

Quick Tip: Try layering down as in a window, instead of up for a unique approach.
Have a great day!

It’s almost here! I’m always excited to see the next Stamp It Cards magazine released by Paper Crafts. If you’re a stamped like me, you’ll know what I mean. Every single card in this issue is stamped and is filled with fabulous ideas. This issue goes on sale on Tuesday February 24th and you can find it at your local bookstore, craft store or on-line at Paper Crafts/Creating Keepsakes.I have a few designs published in this issue and am allowed to share one with you here. One of the great features of this new issue is a section where three designers use the stamp stamp set to create three different designs. Each project uses a different technique. I was excited to be asked to create this design here.

I love creating simple cards and usually dedicate Saturday posts to them. Saturday is such a great day to relax and be simple. I have two card designs to share with you today. They both focus on warm color schemes but one is a simple scrappy-style design and the other, simply stamped. Actually, until I started writing this post I didn’t realize how many things they have in common. They are both square cards, both have stitching, both use two dark copper brads in the design.
Warm Bloom

My first card was so simple to make. I really had no intention of putting these items together when I purchased them but when they arrived, they worked so well that I just had to. I love the rich oranges and rusty red. This design focuses on geometric shapes. I stitched along the edges of the “squares” on the paper to highlight them. The beautiful Prima flowers are called Lollipops. They come predistressed as layers of circles and I just love the feel of them. The paper almost feels like a leathery fabric. Cool!
Supply List:
Paper: Simply Smooth White cardstock by Prism, Beach Towel from Snorkel line by Cosmo Cricket
Other: sewing machine, Lollipop Frosted Brown flowers by Prima, Fleuriste rub-on by Cosmo Cricket
Seek Him

It’s been a long time since I pulled out my Spectrum ink pads. I remember when I first started stamping being so fascinated with them. This design features the new Thomas Kinkade Sunrise stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms and I think the rainbow effect works so well with the theme of this stamp. I was rummaging through my Thomas Kinkade sentiments trying to decide what to use with this image. I found the Wise men still seek Him stamp and thought…how true. Although it was really a Christmas release, it works perfectly for an Easter or inspirational theme as well.
Supply List:
Stamps: Sunrise (Thomas Kinkade line) by Cornish Heritage Farms
Burlap Backgrounder by Cornish Heritage Farms
Ink: Kaleidacolor Pad by Tsukineko

Well the Thomas Kinkade Blitz weekend has begun. Remember to stop by and have some fun with us over the next couple days.
Friday brings a new release to this line, Sunrise. I love the beautiful sky and how this image makes me stop and think. This would be a gorgeous stamp for Easter cards. I did a little internet searching to see what Thomas Kinkade had to say about this painting. He created it at the turn of the century while thinking about the new millennium and how we need to let our light shine.
Sunrise Cross

The brilliance of Copic Markers makes them perfect for coloring in this glorious sky. The Thomas Kinkade stamps come with a high quality label that makes it easy to use a base for how to color in the image. I kept the rest of the design simple to focus on the beautiful meaningful image.
Quick Tip: After coloring in the sky, go back in with the lightest color and go over the entire space to blend the colors.
Have a great weekend!

Wow! I seem to be in super slow gear this morning. I’ve been sitting here for 5 minutes drawing a blank on how to start writing this post. Well, getting started seems to be half the battle so that is what I’m doing. LOL If I think of something better, I’ll change it. If not…you’ll just know that it is one of those days! I’d dearly love to crawl back into bed! Of course I can’t. Busy day and I promised my daughter we’d go get her lerner’s permit so she can practice driving. Yikes!
As you know, I host the Thursday Ways to Use it Challenge on www.splitcoaststampers.com . I love stripes and thought that they would make a super fun challenge. I’ve heard that some people have trouble using them. Depending on the scale of the stripes, they can be a little overpowering. If you find stripes a challenge, one way that I use them is in small doses. Try cutting a 1-1.5″ strip across the striped paper and using it as an accent layer.
Here’s a few ideas for incorporating stripes into your work…
- patterned paper- backgrounder, or thin layers
- stamp them using a striped backgrounder
- use a long vertical border stamp and repeatedly stamp to create your own stripes
- stitch stripes onto cardstock
- use a zebra or tiger stamp
- paper piece using striped paper
- create your own stripes using creative supplies such as paint, markers, Stickles etc.
- striped ribbon
Want to play along? Here’s the challenge!
Oh Shoot

For today’s card, it’s actually nothing too creative with using stripes but I just couldn’t wait to try out this new Cosmo Cricket paper. Is it not darling?! I used my Dymo Label Maker to create a custom sentiment. The first time I saw this super cute stamp, I just knew I wanted to create a design with this play on words. My little boys love it and have been fighting over this card. I ended up letting them play with the stamp and they have been stamping up a storm!
Have a great day!
