My Sympathies…

Every now and then you need a card that hard to make. For me…I’m always reluctant to create those sympathy designs. It’s very hard to convey your thoughts and I’d much rather design for happy occasions. Recently, one of my children’s teachers lost a family member and I created this design for her.

For inspiration, I used the latest Card Positioning Systems sketch. CPS is celebrating their 2nd anniversary and 100th sketch design this week. Yesterday and today features Cornish Heritage Farms Designs stamps. There is a fun contest so make sure you check it out!

With Sympathy

This design uses a color combo inspired by this beautiful Webster’s Pages paper. I paired it up with my favorite flower from the Shady Tree Studio line, Artsy Blooms. I’ve been having a lot of fun stamping on kraft lately and then coloring with colored pencils. I love the artistic look and the way the light pencil colors pop against the darker cardstock. Does the chipboard frame look a little familiar? Hint: check out yesterday’s design. I actually created today’s card first and this is the outer chipboard frame of three nested Maya Road frames. I think it looks great as a tag or a frame.

This is lovely. It brings a word to mind for me ~ “remember.” Like pressed flowers in a beautiful book. And how fitting an impression for a sympathy card. Simply charming!

This is gorgeous, Julia! I know what you mean about not liking to make sympathy cards. I love this, though and I am sure that it will bring the family comfort! You are so thoughtful!
