Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm… Gourmet Goodness
Do you love cooking as well as paper crafting. I don’t know about you but these cold Fall days just beg for yummy home-cooked meals and after a very busy summer, I’ve been pulling out my recipes and baking more too! I’m really excited about this new special publication by Paper crafts called PC Gourmet. I’ve seen a sneak peek at a few of the recipes as I have a few designs coming out in this issue. Today though…I have a couple great things to share with you! Paper Crafts has send me two copies of this magazine, one of them to share with you. Since I’ll already be getting my own copies, I thought it would be even better to give them both away for you to enjoy!
If you’re looking for copies of this great magazine (they’d make some great Christmas gifts) you can purchase them on-line here. Fpr a chance to win, simply respond to this post by Friday October 31st at 10 pm EST. If you like, tell me what you’re crafting or cooking up these days! Please enter only once. I’ll be posting the two random winners on Saturday.
I also have a great recipe and project to share with you today designed by Alisa Bangerter. Enjoy!

Cheesy Garlic Drop Biscuits
by Alisa Bangerter
This is a perfect recipe to pull out if you are short on time because there is no rolling or cutting. The cheese and garlic add extra kick to a plain biscuit, and kids love them. They are the perfect accompaniment to serve with soups or stews, and are great served with a salad.
INGREDIENTS
2 c. flour
2 tbsp. granulated sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. butter or margarine
1 1/2 c. grated cheddar cheese
1 1/4 c. milk
Chives (optional)
DIRECTIONS
Mix together dry ingredients. Cut in butter with pastry cutter until mixture is fine. Add cheese and mix well. Add milk and stir until just moistened. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased baking sheet. Sprinkle top with chopped dried or fresh chives if desired. Bake at 400 degrees for approx. 15 minutes.

Enjoy Halloween Tag

Recipe sounds yummy…I always feel like baking and cooking more once the days get crisper…I love “comfort foods” at this time of year..soups, stews, apple crisps..mmmmm…better get baking…
Raking, baking, planning ahead…that is what this time of year is all about. Time to pull out the halloween costumes, decide where to hide the christmas gifts this year while deciding your thanksgiving day menu! Fall is the best!
I cooked a turkey breast, buttercup squash, and an apple pie yesterday. It was perfect for a chilly fall day in Western New York!
so far I’m just cooking up normal foods and getting ready for the holidays! I did craft up some Halloween cards that I have to mail out this week! nothing like procrastinating!
These sound yummy! Thanks for sharing…
I am so busy making cards right now that hubby is doing all the cooking. Aren’t I blessed to have him?!
This looks like such a great book! I love to cook and am always on the lookout for new recipes. Of course anything Paper Crafts is going to be wonderful!
It’s starting to get cooler here so I have been able to turn on the oven! So I have started baking goodies like cookies, bread, and tomorrow I think it will be muffins : ) Thanks for the chance to play!
Hi Julie, I love the PC Gourmet Magazine…I purchased a couple of these magazines sometime last year and have been looking for it since, but have not been able to find it again. I’m excited to know it will soon be available once again. I’m just starting on some little treat bags for my grandsons for Halloween. I don’t have much time to work on big projects these days, but I try to do simple things whenever I have the chance. Thanks for sharing your ideas and for sharing this recipe today…I will give try this one very soon.
Have a great week,
Barb g
I just found a recipe for pumpkin chocolate chip cookies that I’m hoping to try this week!
Yum–these look delish! I’ve been planning on making some YUMMY chex mix in cute little bags with stamped tags for little gifties this year! You know, for the people you don’t want to buy something major for, but want to give them a little love? I’m lookin’ forward to reading this mag! Thanks!
Thanks for the recipe,it sounds good. I always like to do pumpkin bars and fruit cobblers in the fall.I just returned from my grandsons birthday party (he turned two ) where his mommy served homemade macaroni and cheese, hotdogs ,broccoli and decorate your own cupcakes! She also set up a crafting station where the toddlers got to paint and decorate little pumpkins. Fall is such a fun season, I have been enjoying making cards and treat bags for my three grandsons. I’m looking forward to the papercrafts mag.
I’m cooking lots of soups–or stoups as I call them–soups that are so thick they are like stew!
No cooking for me until the kids come for Thanksgiving. But I AM making Christmas cards and gifts. And yesterday I made a sweet treat container. Guess I should acutally make the treats for it too, huh?
Your biscuits sound good and the tag was cute as well. Any idea why they decided to publish it in hard bound so it costs even that much more? For the price - I can buy quite a bit of fun stuff. So, I hope you pick me as a winner…..that way I won’t miss out on anything! I enjoyed the magazine format before as well as the price. It is fun to have the recipes and decorative container. I sure there will be a lot of talented stuff in it. And yes the cooler weather makes me want to do some baking too. It is my turn to host our SU group so I need to come up with something good that I can take. Ii am also making some Christmas stuff for some people who was involved in the hurricane in Texas and the floods and tornados here in the midwest this year. Instead of making lots of stuff I am trying to focus on some really nice things. I am combining needlework with the paper crafting too. Enough for now, I have babbled on too much already.
You’re sure to get lots of responses to this great blog candy! Today I made macaroni and cheese - the ultimate comfort food. Also on my list is chocolate zucchini cake to use up the zucchini from our neighbour. Hello from Winnipeg!
A friend found a recipe for Oaty Brownie bars from Betty Crocker online — WOW — like a raspberry bar, with the oat crust — but with a gooey brownie filling … my DH and youngest daughter cooked up a batch and oh, my, was I pleased! Not something for everyday, but such a lovely treat!
Thanks so much for sharing the wonderful magazine and recipes with us all!
Those biscuits do look yummy! Right now I’m busy making baby announcements and thank yous for my first grandchild. After that I need to start some Christmas gifts. Gotta plan ahead or nothing gets done.
Actually, the last thing I baked was your pumpkin loaf recipe last weekend. I made two loaves and brought one to my parents. It was yummy. I wanted it to be nutty and I am allergic to tree nuts so I sprinkled some pepitas, sunflower seeds and rolled oats on top of the loaves before putting them in the oven and they turned out great!
I don’t know if I’m the only one but I’m seeing the “code” on your webpages lately. Just thought I’d mention it in case everyone is seeing it.
Thanks for the chance to win and for the deelish recipe!
I would love to win a copy of this. I love combining papercrafts and food. I just got done making stamped muffin cups, peanut butter chocolate cupcakes and matching recipe cards.
Time to start baking wholewheat and raisin bread from scratch. It’s so yummy and makes the whole house smell so good. Thanks for the chance to win.
Oooh! Pick me! Pick me! I’ve been trying to get my grubby little hands on one of these in a bad way!
I’m working on aprons for a Christmas Bazzar and have been cooking for a lot of large groups lately (all the kids at home with their children!) Makes me happy, though.
Thanks for the opportunity for the magazine!
This is when I love to make homemade soups! The cold days and warm soup by the fire is the perfect combination!!
Last week I tried a Black Bean Turkey Chili that had a can of pumpkin in it! It was really good!!! I got the recipe from Taste of Home. I love chili and soup this time of year!
I love the garlicy cheese biscuits. I’ve got to make some! I’ve been busy making Halloween cards this week for my coworkers. Next will be preparing for a Christmas card class I’m having in a couple of weeks. I’ve also been painting some projects. Busy! Busy!
Mmmmm, those biscuits sound delish, and they’d be perfect with the big pot of sauce I made yesterday; I usually make a big pot of sauce and freeze it in meal size containers so it’s ready to go when we’re ready for spaghetti! This time I made it with turkey meatballs; I can’t wait til Wednesday, (Prince Spahgetti Day)! Thanks for the chance to win!
Kathy Camasso
Thanks for the chance to win! From the magazine Crafts n’Things, I landed on a chocolate chip pumpkin bread recipe that we’ll be giving to our few neighborsin November, not many houses around us! The kids loved the “test” batch!
Hi Julia,
I also have the sane recipe and project on my blog. I am thrilled to be a part of all of this. However, I do not have any thing in this new book that is coming out. Since I will need to buy 3 copies for my daughters and one for myself I thought I would enter your contest. You can’t win unless you play right? Congratulations for being in this book Julia. I have been seeing so much of your beautiful work in many of the magazines that are out there.
Thanks for the chance to win.
Mary
Those biscuits sound delicious and I shall definitely keep my eye out for the magazine. Thanks for the chance to win a copy.
Again, also thanks for your great ideas and hints. I’m going to make a shaker card right now.
I’d love to win! I just made pecan pie bars this weekend, and am always on the lookout for new treats to package and giveaway.
Those biscuits would go well with the Spicy Pumpkin Sausage Soup I am going to make later-turkey breakfast sausage, can of pumpkin, mushrooms, Italian seasoning, broth are some of the ingredients. Made a peach cobbler to take to a friend who lost her husband. Thanks for a chance to win the magazine.
What a great idea for a magazine! I’ve been busy making Halloween treats for teachers & classmates this week. I LOVE this time of year!
I made the cheesy biscuits last night with our soup and they were delicious. Pretty easy too! My kinda recipe. Thanks!
I have been making Halloween cards and little goody bags for some of the neighbourhood kids. I SHOULD be thinking of starting my Christmas cards, but so far, that inspiration hasn’t sparked any ideas! I guess it will be like all the other years…2 weeks before Christmas, before I get my cards finished!
This looks wonderful! I’d love to win a copy. I’m in the process of trying to make a stash of quick cards to have on hand. When I find one I really love, I’m making sets of them for Christmas gifts.
Thanks for the chance to win. I don’t cook, but once in a while, I’d bake a cake or cookies - the really easy kind. I am making all kinds of cards right now. Some for friends and some for myself.
I haven’t had a lot of time for crafting, which is the reason I’ve been using my crock pot a lot more lately. We’ve had those cold night dinners like pot roast, chili, and stew.
I had to work allll Thanksgiving weekend, so I’m planning to make a Thanksgiving meal this weekend! I’ve got a chaotic few more days at work, but if I plan my menu and grocery list, I think I should be able to do it! Eep! *lol*
I’ve been swamped with a huge quilting project, but that’s finally out of the way now, so hopefully, I’ll be able to start a baby sweater, and finish an afghan for a friend’s wedding gift.
A few of my sisters and a friend get together once a month to create and share some card ideas, and I’m just home from there with some great ideas; I love the new recipe ideas too - I’m thinking something with squash and scalloped potatoes for supper tomorrow night…. love those comfort foods!
ooh, looks yummy. hope i’m one of the lucky winners.
i love your blog. your ne digi scraps are amazing!!!
thinking about taking a course myself.thanks
We had a soup, sandwich, and dessert carry-in yesterday at work.
And, recipe’s are always the topic of discussion. This book would certainly add to my collection.
Rita
Mix together dry ingredients. Cut in butter with pastry cutter until mixture is fine. Add cheese and mix well. Add milk and stir until just moistened.
Oh this recipe sounds so yummy, tfs!
This magazine looks like it will be great! I haven’t started cooking yet, but am in the planning stages for Thanksgiving and Christmas…I usually bake all the cookies and pies!
First, I want to say I LOVE your style!!! I am a big fan of yours! I love the mix of paper crafts and food. I bought a magazine last year and was so inspired, I made for both my family and my husband’s family a 12 days of Christmas basket. The first day was 1 pretty puzzle on up to the 12th day was a qt. jar of cookie mix that made 12 cookies! I made special tags for these goodies and what a treat for the families to open a present for 12 days before Christmas. The kids especially liked it. The prefect blend, paper crafts and cooking!
Halloween has been on my plate this past week. I made cards for all my nieces and nephews and some neighbors too. I have a great sugar cookie recipe that I make pumpkin, ghosts, and bats out of. My DS (who is almost 18) loves these and gets excited when I start baking. I make up a plate of cookies and attach the card for ‘boo’ gifts.
Thanks for the chance to win. Also thanks for all you share with us, you have such a great talent.
Hi Julia! Can’t believe I missed this post before. Today I’m making a pork loin for dinner. (and it is so cold here this morning that I’m dreaming of pumpkin pie and hot chocolate) Thanks for the chance to win! Stay warm.
Julia ~ This recipe looks super yummy. I love biscuits, but with cheese and garlic…deelish!! Thanks for the chance to win. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks for sharing the yummy recipe…….I will have to make these biscuits this week-end when I make a pot of soup. MMMMM…..
The recipe for the biscuits sounds delicious…….will have to try them soon.
Thanks for the chance to win the PC Gourmet mag……..
