After a few years of rarely scrapping, I think you can probably tell I’ve been bitten by the bug again! The great thing about scrapbooking is that you can take ideas and things you’ve learned and apply them to cardmaking as well. The same is true vice versa. I think I’ve bringing a lot back to scrapping since creating cards for the past few years and I know I’m always inspired to use some of the ideas I see in various layouts, in my card designs as well. The point is…Maybe you DON’T scrapbook but I’m hoping you’ll still enjoy the layouts and pick up some ideas from them.
I designed this sketch for today’s skech layout challenge. I hope you’ll join me and create a layout using it. I found it great for using up some fun scraps of patterned paper. While I love collage style layouts, I thought it would also be fun to try a more color blocking design. Make sure you check out Kristine’s layout as well! To play along with the challenge….here it is.

This is a layout of my daughter at the beach. I tried to capture the glow on her face reflected from the sunset. . I had a pile of MME patterned papers left over from other projects that are so pretty I couldn’t bear to through them out. I love how well they all coordinate to add interest to the color blocks. Don’t be afraid to add embellishments over your blocks for depth and interest.
Quick Tip: When using two photos, it’s always a good idea to make one of them more of a close-up than the other to get different perspectives of the subject.
Happy Wednesday! What’s up tomorrow? A fun Ways to Use it Challenge.
