Belle Papier {pretty paper}

Clocktower Cottage is the beautiful latest Thomas Kinkade stamp release from Cornish Heritage Farms. I’m always excited with each TK release as the art work is so stunning and so unique! This image looks stunning in monochromatic as well as colored. I find that the more you practice coloring the images, the easier they are to do. Really…isn’t that the way with everything?This design actually only took just over 20 miniutes to color. I always love looking at what Thom has to say about each of his paintings. I found this quote on-line….

I just wanted to show you a photo of the back of the coloring as well. Copics blend better the more ink you use so you should definitely be able to see ink coming through the back of the paper. When coloring detailed images with Copic markers…take your time and use lots of shades, slowly building up the color.

Quick Tip: To get a good impression when stamping a highly detailed image, paper, ink and technique make all the difference! I ink my stamp with Black or Rich Cocoa Memento ink then brayer to smooth out the ink. I love the Prism Simply Smooth White cardstock for a crisp impression. To get a perfectly even image I place 5 0r 6 sheets of cardstock underneath to provide a firmstamping surface that has the tiniest bit of give.

I love texture! It’s especially something I love to add to my fall and winter cards. It always seems so cozy! Texture and especially cracked textures are especially great for masculine designs that I can’t add my usual flowers and rhinestones too. Today’s challenge is a great way to add interest and texture to your projects. Get cracking on this crackle challenge! Whether you try a cracked glass technique, Ranger Crackle Accents, Distress Crackle Paint or any other way you can think think of…have fun with this challenge here.

Sunset Flight

Now I haven’t pulled out my Spectrum ink pads in almost forever! Well…not quite but you get the idea! When I first saw a peek at this image, I knew that I’d be pulling them out as soon as this rubber hit my hands. This is an absolutely perfect image for it and it gives a simply stunning look. I just love how easy it is to create as well. Just stamp on glossy cardstock and then brayer. I don’t think anything matches the glow of color like stamping on glossy cardstock…so rich and vibrant!

To add my texture to this design, I used some Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint. I adore this paint for painting on paper, chipboard, just about anything. I love how the paint cracks in one step…just brush on and leave to dry. Now that is my kind of crackle finish!

My husband came running in the house Monday night telling me to grab my camera. Now this is not an ordinary occurrence…he usually shuns the thing but after a day of rain, there was the most stunning rainbow I have seen in years.Across the road and fields of Fall wheat this rainbow was just radiant and spanned in a complete arch from side to side. There was no way to capture it with my camera as my lens is not wide-angled. Here’s one of the few pics I managed to take right before my camera battery died.

Now image my surprise this morning to wake up to everything well-blanketed with snow! Hmmmm…are those costumes for Friday night going to fit on top of snowsuits?! I totally can’t believe it because I had the boys standing out waiting for the bus for a long time. The delayed the bus by two hours. What a day!

Now as for the layout part of the post…it’s layout challenge day again.

I’m just loving the richness of today’s image….Fall Harvest. I colored this new Saturday Evening Post image with my Copic markers and tried a little airbrush on it too.   Now that I have that tool back on my desk…it’s hard to stay away from!It’s super cold here again today. Brrrr….I’m pulling out the winter coats and boots and mits.

Fall Harvest

To create this design, I first colored in my image and then added my airbrushing to add texture.

To create a splatter effect with the Copic Airbrush, you can insert the brush end of the Copic marker and get a very splattered effect. In the photo below, the spray on the right show the chisel end results as compared to the brush end on the left. Also… if you take the chisel end and use a medium brown marker, you can get a nice soft inked effect around the outside of your image. It’s similar to sponging in stamping and burning in photography.

Quick Tip: Always practice first on a scrap piece of paper before airbrushing. You wouldn’t want to spoil your artwork.

Cheesy Garlic Drop Biscuits

This is a perfect recipe to pull out if you are short on time because there is no rolling or cutting. The cheese and garlic add extra kick to a plain biscuit, and kids love them. They are the perfect accompaniment to serve with soups or stews, and are great served with a salad.

INGREDIENTS

2 c. flour

2 tbsp. granulated sugar

4 tsp. baking powder

1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1/2 tsp. salt

2/3 c. butter or margarine

1 1/2 c. grated cheddar cheese

1 1/4 c. milk

Chives (optional)

DIRECTIONS

Mix together dry ingredients. Cut in butter with pastry cutter until mixture is fine. Add cheese and mix well. Add milk and stir until just moistened. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased baking sheet. Sprinkle top with chopped dried or fresh chives if desired. Bake at 400 degrees for approx. 15 minutes.

Font: (Black Family) www.dafont.com Adhesive: (foam tape) Finished size: 3″ x 4 1/2″

1 Make tag from cardstock. 2 Crumple tag and smooth out. Spray edges with color wash; let dry. Apply chalk. 3 Ink chipboard moon; let dry. Chalk edges and adhere. 4 Ink chipboard bat; let dry. Adhere with foam tape. 5 Print sentiment on cardstock; trim and tear edges. Chalk edges and adhere with foam tape. Attach brads. Attach ribbon with brad.
