Let’s Talk…technique talk

Technique talk…. Anyone else love stamping techniques? It’s one of the things that really hooked me on rubber stamping. How you can take one rubber stamp set and just by changing up the technique, get a huge variety of looks and styles. Versatility rocks!

One of my favorite resources I turn to when I want to try out something new is on the Cornish Heritage Farms Forums…Technique Talk. Each week a new technique tutorial is unveiled to inspire and educate. Seriously…if you’ve never been there…you need to check it out! Lots of fabulous ideas! We thought it would be fun to have a challenge based on these techniques. To play along…check out the Technique Talk Forum and choose a technique to design a project around. Details here.

Also…a quick reminder…for those of you who signed up for my on-line class, it’s tomorrow Tuesday August 5th.

Etched Nature Vase

For my project I chose a technique I’ve been dying to try out since I first saw Sherrie Sieman’s tutorial…Glass Etching. Is this not cool or what?! I just have to try out new things…especially as fun as etching. I know…need a life! 😉

I just love how it turned out using Asela’s Garden Friends set…so elegant with the butterflies, dragonflies and leaves. The glass vase is extremely inexpensive…$3.00 Cdn at Michael’s. You can also find the ArmourEtch there. At approximately $18, you’ll want to buy it with a coupon. A little does go a very long way though making it economical in the long run if you plan to create lots of projects. Take it from me…this technique IS addicting. 🙂 You’ll be seeing more of this in the future.

Quick Tip: When using this technique…choose stamps that have clean, distinct outlines. The inside detail may be lost due to the embossing powder melting on the glass so a good silhouette is critical.

Hope this challenge has inspired you to try something new! Have a wonderful week!
