Simply Saturday, Beautiful Summer…
It’s Saturday and I usually share a simple design with you on this day each week. Until now I’ve always shared a simple card design but today I’ve decided to share a simple layout. I know that some stampers and other papercrafters can find the large 12×12 format intimidating but really…scrapbooking can be as simple or as difficult as you like. Don’t be afraid of white space, don’t be afraid of just adding one picture…make it simple and have fun with it.
One great place to start with a scrapbooking page is to use a sketch. They layout for the project below was inspired by June’s challenge on Webster’s Pages Inspire Me site. I tweaked it a little by adding an angle to the design. A little stamping for the title and quote and some patterned paper makes for a quick easy project.
Beautiful Summer
This layout was inspired by a fun photo I took last summer. There were lots of little girls on the beach that we know well…all friends and they looked so darling all chatting in a circle. The quote at the bottom…A long talk with a good friend can cure anything.
I’m at the beach for part of the day today. I’m hoping the sun and the break will be good for this summer cold I have right now.
Thanks for stopping by! Have an awesome weekend!
Julia

This is gorgeous! I can almost see a card in this too!
This is a beautiful layout. I love the simplicity but it doesn’t look empty which I think they can sometimes when you only use on photo! LOVE IT!!!
Very nice! I love the simple elegant feel.
Love your take on the challenge…it’s a wonderful, simple, fun layout with all your little touches thrown in there. Love how you’ve used the ribbon to separate the quadrants.
This is really beautiful. I love the way you’ve the ribbon. The first words that came to my mind were simple but elegant. I would love to try a card like this. Thanks again for the inspiration.
Julia, this is just fabulous! I love how you used the ribbon to separate, the buttons, the flowers, the pic…everything. Just a striking layout!
Julia, I just wanted to say a huge, huge thank you for the constant inspiration and for, somehow, saying the right thing at the right time. I’ve been struggling to ‘find’ a scrapbook style and finally settled on one which generally has lots of space. No-one else seems to ‘get it’. I was beginning to feel a little depressed about it. So, so glad that someone with such evident good taste understands where I’m coming from :O)
I just love the page. It’s so simple but beautiful. I just love how you separated the pieces.
Wow — this is really, really lovely. I am so inspired looking at it. The use of paper, stamps and embellishments is just wonderful. Somehow I missed it earlier, and I am so glad I scrolled down!
