A Scrappy Card…

Published by Julia Stainton at 10:07 am under Card Designs, Cornish Heritage Farms

I love making “scrappy” style cards. A little this, a little that, a little stamping, a little fun paper…it’s all good. :) For this design I wanted to pull out my Making Memories journaling pad and stamp on it. Just because it says journaling…doesn’t mean its not great for other applications as well. I just love the die cut edges and great sized patterns…perfect for cardmaking as well as layouts.

As I didn’t want this journaling block to take over the entire card, I decided to use a 5.25″ square card design. I had used up my coordinating patterned paper on a layout last week so…what to do?! Make my own of course! :) I pulled out my new Fine Houndstooth Scrapblock™ stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms, inked it in black and instantly had the right paper to work with my design. These Scrapblocks are perfect for large square cards that backgrounder stamps would not be large enough for. These 6×6 rubber stamps are released today at CHF and for today only…double CHF points on all Scrapblocks. BTW…if you’re looking for them in the CHF store…a great way to find them is to just type Scrapblock in the search box. :)

Missing You

To add interest to my design, I stamped my Nature’s Silhouette stamps directly onto the journaling sheet as well as my sentiment. Some beautiful Prima lace that Kim was so sweet to send me is stapled along the left side. To highlight the sentiment…I added a Making Memories brad to tie in that little dotted pink border around the journaling page.

Quick Tip: It’s OK to go beyond the borders of your card. I love how this breaks up the lines of the design. Simply mail your card in a slightly larger envelope. In this case…I made sure it would fit in a 6×6 envelope that I have on hand.

Take Care! And check back in tomorrow….it’s been a while but we have a Take Two challenge post to share with you. :)
