Simply Saturday… patterned paper?

Published by Julia Stainton at 5:51 am under Card Designs, Cornish Heritage Farms

It’s simply Saturday again and today I’m so excited to be off taking a class on Distress Inks. Love these inks and I KNOW I’m going to learn a lot today! I ended up having such a hard time with my printer last night, I don’t think my photos are going to work well but I’ll have lots of fun anyway! In the meantime I have a quick simple design for you using my new Nature’s Silhouettes stamp set from Cornish Heritage Farms. It’s gorgeous like the rest of Kim’s Silhouette sets and so easy to use.

I paired up my new set with three backgrounders to produce my own patterned paper. I’m really pleased with it. It looks pretty real doesn’t it? Can you tell I’m so excited about the upcoming Backgrounder Blitz I’m already thinking up fun ways to use them?

Simply Nature For You

So….the secret to making this “patterned paper” is to use layers of background stamps and various inks. I was inspired by some new My Mind’s Eye paper I had just purchased. I love this Large jks-simply-nature-for-you-c.jpgPolka Dots backgrounder and started off with it. I used my Versamagic Chalk inks and my Color box pigment cat’s eyes to layer on color on different parts of the backgrounder. The white dots are actually a very pale pink. After stamping these, I used my Scratched Grid backgrounder inked randomly in the same pale pink to get a sanded distressed look. I used my third backgrounder on top of that…the Spanish Script Backgrounder. This one I sparsely inked in citron green before stamping over the top. To the edges, I lightly applied my white pigment ink direct to paper to give a soft edge.

For the rest of my design…a super simple layout…it’s Saturday right? Very little embellishing…just felt like a simple clean look today. The jeweled flower is from Imaginesce.

Hoping your Saturday is simply wonderful…

Julia

Beautiful. I had to look twice, thinking it was a purchased PP. Very nice. And I can’t believe you are taking a class. You oughta be the teach!

I second Donna’s comment - I had to look at the background again, thinking it had to be patterned paper - not stamped! You’re amazing - thanks for the step-by-step on how you made it - I may try it when I’m brave enough!

Gorgeous, Julia! I just got this set and can’t wait to play! Your background “paper” is beautiful! I’m going to start doing that more often — sometimes I just can’t find the paper I need for a design!
