Simply Saturday…a little shabby
A super quick shabby design for today’s post! We’re still working hard on the kitchen here and I just can’t wait until some of my new cupboards arrive today! I’m pretty much bouncing! I’m thrilled with the paint color we tried out on one little wall and really love the tile. I can’t wait to see my cupboards in person. Believe it or not, I just can’t wait to bake again!
Shabby Painted Birthday
For this design…well…just a tiny bit of stamping on it. When I created this card I wanted to use this beautiful Making Memories letters that I’ve had for ages and yes….I’ve been hoarding them. I just love the flourish on them and thought they’d pair up beautifully with this Basic Grey paper. This paper was too pretty to cover up so I adhere the letters to a transparency to give them definition without covering up much of the design. To make them pop a little, a little white acrylic paint on the reverse goes a long way to adding interest. The Happy Birthday sentiment was then stamped on in Black Stazon and then I stitched the transparency to the design. Be careful when stitching transparencies…they have a tendency to slip and slide a little. Just stitch slowly and hold your layers and it should be fine. A white Prima finishes it off and adds a fresh spring look.
I hope you have beautiful Spring weather this weekend and enjoy a simply wonderful day!

Love your work Julia. Hope the kitchen cupboards are just stunning and that your home gets back together soon! TFS
Your “simple” cards don’t look simple at all, J! This is fantastic! I love the paint! Good luck today with your cupboards!
This is darling!! I agree with M, it dosen’t seem simple at all! Great job!
That “Shabby” card is to die for. Love everything about this one Julia!!
Sincerely,
Sonja
Wonderful! I’m practicing on my stitching on cards and can’t wait to try this! Thanks for sharing!
This is really pretty. I always think simple cards will be — well just too simple. But you show that they can be very special at the same time. I love the splash of white paint. How do you think of these things?
This is really beautiful! Have a great weekend!!!
so pretty, love that paper and the use of your letters and the painting, thanks for the tips on sewing the transparency, I haven’t yet tried it but it is one of the things on my list to give a try!
Oh, I love this card!! The colours are beautiful. You do well with paper art. Re stamp pads, I tried to e-mail you but it bounced back twice. I am waiting for you to invoice me so I can pay through Paypal. Last night I talked to someone and they said I can just plug in your e-mail address and payment will go to you. Is this right? I’m new to Paypal and don’t know how it works. I never could figure out how I got paid from my DT work through paypal because I never gave bank acct information. Sorry I’m so inept in this area. I do want the pads and worry you think I skipped out. You can e-mail me at

Cool, Julia! I like how you use the paint on the transparencies!
