A skinny card and a new release…

I thought I’d step out of my box for this card design and use a smaller card size than normal. I just love these skinny little cards and am wondering why I don’t use them more! They are sweet, quick and fit perfectly in that 3 5/8″ x 6.5″ standard envelope size that you can buy anywhere.

Before I tell you about my card, I’d like to tell you about a new release today. Cornish Heritage Farms is releasing a new line by Tom Allen, called Friendly Kritters. These images are sooo sweet and so much fun to color. These images are not line art but are converted from full color art to a shaded stamp image in much the same way that Richard and Liz expertly design the Thomas Kinkade stamp line. Once stamped, these images are very easy to color. For hints on the best inks and papers to use with this line, check out the tutorial here. To check out the darling new releases…the Tom Allen Friendly Kritters stamp line. I’m busy stalking my mail delivery in hopes that my new stamps are arriving today. Sigh….gotta love that Canada Post. 😉

U R A Hoot

This fun little card measures 3.5″ x 6″. I found this little scrap of My Mind’s Eye paisley paper while cleaning up and just could resist pairing it up with this fun little owl. This is the largest owl from Kim Hughes’ new U R A Hoot stamp set by Cornish Heritage Farms. I couldn’t resist adding in a brown circle from my stash for her to sit on. The circle also provides a great place to anchor my fun embellishment combo…American Crafts felt flowers paired up with a button, some Creative Impressions ribbon and a darling little Fancy Pants pin.

I just had to have a little fun glitzing up my pretty bird. I colored her by watercoloring with my Adirondack dye inks and then added some fun glitter for sparkling eye shadow. A little stitched ribbon bow in her hair and she is definitely a hoot. 🙂 After cutting this little owl out with tiny scissors, she curled up a little at the sides because of the watercoloring. Instead of gluing her down well, I just adhered her in the middle as the curling paper seems to give her a little dimension.

Have a super fun day!
