It is very difficult to find the right words for a sympathy card. I certainly find that. I think what's more meaningful is the symbolic act of caring and empathy that the card represents. That is really what touches people so I try not to worry about finding the perfect phrasing. Everyone's different in what they need to hear in times of difficulty anyway.
