I love shabby and vintage looks and so, I’ve been having fun playing around with my new Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint from Ranger. I’ve been painting it on wood, cardstock and patterned paper and finding all sorts of great applications. For the next two weeks…the spotlight at Cornish Heritage Farms is on Distress Crackle Paint. I’ve written a product spotlight entry with lots of tips and hints on how to use it. It’s also on sale for the next two weeks so if you haven’t tried it…now is a great time!

It’s Been a While

This design is in one of my favorite styles…shabby chic. The main base of the card is covered with patterned paper. I then added a layer of cardstock stamped with my favorite backgrounder… Lined Paper from Cornish Heritage Farms. The cardstock was then painted with Tattered Rose Distress Crackle Paint and allowed to dry. This really only takes about 10 minutes, depending on the thickness of the paint added. The thicker your coat of paint..the larger the cracks in your dried paint. While the paint was dry to touch but not quite cracked…I inked up my flower stamp from the Silhouette Blooms 2 stamp set and added numerous impressions on top of the paint.

To focus your attention into the images on the design…I added a circle cut with my Curvy Cutter Circle Template and some fun embellishments.

I’m having a hoot here with the latest Kim Hughes release from Cornish Heritage Farms! I just can’t resist Kim’s birds and one of the sets released yesterday has owls with lots of attitude! I Give a Hoot

I just love all the fun sentiments that go along with this U R A Hoot stamp set. Wise Guy. Owl be Missing You. Who Loves You? and many more. I decided to make this fun owl design using the I Give a Hoot sentiment. What a fun way to let someone know you are thinking of them. This design was inspired by Di Hickman’s March sketch #1 and some Prima paper I’ve had for a while but somehow it was put at the bottom of the pile and I forgot about it. Gasp! How could I forget about my Steel Toe Mary Janes Kit? I love it! My owl image was colored in with Copic Markers and then cut out and added to the design. A little touch of Ranger Glossy Accents on the eyes adds a little shine and dimension. Simple and fun!
