A breath of fresh air…
With all the winter weather here…I needed a little reminder of spring yesterday! With five kids home for the day…it couldn’t be too involved…busy, busy, busy….so I came up with this quick floral design to remind me of spring. We’re still in the grips of a winter storm this morning. School is canceled…again. And the elementary school has a PA Day Friday so….it is going to be quite the week.
Floral Hi
Sorry this card design is a little large! For some strange reason my blog server is having a few issues this morning! Also, I just realized, I can’t add any links…I’ll have to edit them in later. Sorry! As I mentioned…I wanted to create a quick card yesterday and my new Cornish Heritage Farms backgrounder stamps were perfect for doing that. I just love them! I also paired them up with this week’s CPS sketch…I took a few liberties with the main panel but hey! It’s for inspiration right?
To break up the crisp white cardstock, i stamped my new Spanish Script stamp in Olive across the middle of my 4×9″ card base. I always love this size of card…why do I not use it more?!
The main image panel is was stamped with the Wild Rose stamp and then colored in with my Copic markers. To add a touch of texture, I inked up my Scratched Grid backgrounder with Creamy Caramel ink and then stamped over top of my image. A little Hi sentiment from Kim Hughe’s Scripty Words set is tucked at the bottom of the image.
To work in the flourish that is part of the CPS layout, I pulled out my sewing machine for a very free-style type flourish of vine and leaves. On top of that, a velvet brad from Making Memories is set in the middle of a Prima flower.
Hope you enjoy it and have a wonderful day!
How’s the weather in your neck of the woods? Beginning to look a lot like Christmas yet?

Lovely card!!! We’re swamped with snow,it’s been snowing for the last 2 days!!
Love your script bg and your lovely flower to matching your pretty stamping, Love the freshness of this!
This is just beautiful, Julia! What a lovely, fresh design!!
Love the sewed flourish and the whole card!! Hope it warms up for you soon!!
Wow, that’s a pretty & elegant card. I love it! I can’t believe you only hour hour away; we had like 2 mm of snow Sat night which was rained away. We had no snow left on the ground, nor did it snow yesterday. The skys are grey but there’s no snow. Funny, eh? CBC tv said big snow for all of us today, though. Keep warm.
Beautiful card, Julia! It’s about 30 degrees right now, and we’re supposed to get our first snowfall tonight. 1-2 inches — that’s enough for me! Your springtime card is a breath of fresh air — love the stitched leaves!
Very pretty!
Hi Julia,
This card is just darling! Love the elegance of it. As for snow, we have lots in southeastern Manitoba and it’s snowing as I type this, but no school cancellations here today. It’s definitely beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
Have a joyous day!!
Beautiful card Julia!
This one is absolutely fabulous! I especially like the stitched stem. Wonderful !!
Gorgeous spring card. Hope your day goes by fast. i would love to have some wintery weather. It did freeze here this morning…but no snow..I am in Central Texas and we did finally get snow last Easter..LOL
Hugs, you get through the day with all 5 kiddos! Make hot chocolate, put on the Christmas Carols and bake cookies with them
I’ll have to try this out with my French Script!!!
Beautiful work…no surprise! Love the stitching…I asked for a Janome for Christmas…what are the chances DH will deliver?
How beautiful! Love the layout and sewing!! Fantastic job!!
Wow Julia! Beautiful job on this card…so pretty!
Sorry you are having bad weather! It’s bad here in Edmonton too BUT it is against school board policies to cancel schools here…They MUST stay open. Since I work in a school, I must be there too…good thing it’s only about 5 houses away…haha! If they close schools then they worry that kids will have no where to go during the day. It’s better to stay open and have kids come if their parents still need to work. I can’t ever remember a snow day here…ugh! Even with the -28C we had yesterday we go…hope your weather improves!
Oh my gosh Julia! This is breath taking! I love the length of the card, and the way the background goes across the middle…stunning with the addition of the flower. I am convinced you see the world differently than the rest of us…I just would never have thought to do that!
Gorgeous card , love it !
Beautiful card! I really love the sewing machine vine that you added!
We have had a grey old day here in England today, but actually quite mild for December! Keep safe during your snowy weather
This card is stunning as always, and you continue to inspire me daily with your beautiful creations! Thank You
Take Care

Julia, my goodness, this is so beautiful! What a gorgeous rose stamp and I love the script in both the background and the greeting. Well, gee, I also love the stitching, the flower and the velvet brad. What’s not to love?
Love the card. The scratched grid background stamp is cool. Good job free handing the stitching. The storm that has hit you dumped about 3 feet in the mountains but sailed over Denver. Today it was 67*! Can you believe that? I was running around in a t-shirt! Wierd for us in Dec. Last winter we were unindated with snow so will enjoy this while it lasts but there is possible snow coming next weekend. Oh well, it is Dec.
I love this card.
Yeah - Don’t you just love this Ontario weather???
I shovelled 6 times since yesterday…
Janine
