Hey Sugar…It’s Time for Another Take Two Challenge…

Published by Julia Stainton at 11:58 am under Card Designs, Challenges

It’s time for another Take Two Challenge with a few of my friend today! This time the challenge is oh so sweet…combining the gorgeous new Cosmo Cricket Hey Sugar Line with any floral stamps. This was so much fun to do! The paper is soooo pretty, I think you’ll be seeing it ALL the time for a while. For my design I paired up one of the Hey Sugar papers (used both front and reverse sides) with some Sage Shadow cardstock and a beautiful floral stamp from Fancy Pants Designs. Make sure you check out the other designs…I haven’t seen them yet (as I write this) but I just know they will be gorgeous! Lindsey, Michele and Trudee never fail to make my jaw drop. :)

Vintage Florals

I just love the vintage look and the gorgeous colors of this new Hey Sugar patterned paper and so I pulled out the Sage Shadow, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip and a gorgeous warm pink/red color from the design. For my card base, I used Sage Shadow (isn’t that color hot right now!?) and layered it with Chocolate Chip and then my Hey Sugar paper. Edges were all lightly sponged with Close to Cocoa ink. To add a little interest to these layers, I added a zig zag stitch with my sewing machine.

For the main image…I hadn’t used this beautiful Fancy Pants stamp set in a while and it went so well with the style of the patterned paper, I just had to use it again. Lindsey actually gave me this set for my birthday back in April…isn’t she the sweetest?! The image was stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock and then I used layers of my Copic markers to color it in. As I didn’t ahve the exact color matches of the paper, I kept layering hte colors on…they blended together fabulously…to achieve the colors I wished for. Around the edges of the image, I used a soft butter color to apply a shadow and define the image. Over top of the flowers, to add a textile like texture, I inked up my Linen background stamp from Stampin Up and finger walked it over the image to achieve a “spotty” look. (Click on the top photo to enlarge to see the detail.) To highlight the flower centers…some Liquid Pearls for a soft antique look.

After layering my image panel I added a panel of the reverse side of my Cosmo Cricket Hey Sugar paper, sponged the edges, stitched the top edge and for the bottom edge…scalloped it with my EK Success small corner rounder. I LOVE the texture of this chocolate brown May Arts Velvet ribbon and it worked perfectly with this project. To balance the other side of the design, I used one of my favorite chipboard sets…the Cosmo Cricket Buck Naked buttons covered with a button die cut that was included in the Hey Sugar paper package. Isn’t it darling?

Hope you are all having a great weekend! I’ll be back tomorrow with another of my Sunday {C’est Bon} entries. :)
