Simply Saturday … vellum daisies
It’s Saturday and time for another simple design. You’ll have to forgive me…this card is one of my faves. It is simply beautiful…unfortunately…you’re going to have to trust me on this one because taking a picture of it was NOT so simple! I’ve tried and tried….sigh…. You’ll just have to use your imagination…or better yet…try it out for yourself!
Vellum Daisies
I’ve long been a fan of vellum cards….so soft and subtle…a little bit elegant and just that touch of uniqueness too. Try stamping on vellum with white craft or hybrid ink…gorgeous! I actually designed this card in September so I’m madly trying to think exactly which ink I did use. I think it was the cloud white Versamagic Ink by Tsukineko. It is specially designed to stamp on vellum.
For this design I used a smaller 4.25″ square format and stamped my cardstock vellum with the solid daisy stamp from the Daisy Dots set by Lizzie Anne Designs. In the center I added the circle stamp with the starburst shape.
The sentiment panel was then added by stamping the sentiment from the Au Naturale set onto a square of Soft Sky cardstock and then simply matted with white and then some more Soft Sky. Three little white brads were inserted in the top left corner for a subtle embellishment. I punched out a double flower from some vellum cardstock scraps and attached it to my card front with a simple silver eyelet.
Quick Tip: When working with subtle colors and design, make sure you keep your embellishments subtle as well so as to not overwhelm the design.
For the inside, I stamped the line daisy image onto a larger panel of whisper white cardstock and matted with Soft Sky cardstock. I stitched the panel to the inside of my card. When designing this panel…I created it just a little larger than my front panel so that when closed…the panel and stitching peeks subtlety through the vellum.

So… pretty! I love how the inside peeks through!
Beautiful softness, love the stamping on the vellum and such a pretty inside too!
This is really pretty! I was thinking about stamping on transparancies earlier this morning, now I want to try your vellum technique too. They would make beautiful wedding invitations. TFS
Julia this card is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing it. I’ve wanted to try vellum cards and acetate cards but much as I love them, I am afraid of them. I’m could never do justice to them. Maybe one of these days I’ll get brave enough. Again I appreciate your inspiration.
OOOH so gorgeous and elegant J!! I love the vellum card….I should try that myself!
This card is just beautiful. My first acetate card was actually vellum & I now love working on velum. So I say to Darlene, try it you’ll love it. It adds such a softness. I hope this link will take you there.

Gorgeous. Looks like the concept is similar to an acetate card. I’ll have to try one.
I can’t say that I’ve ever actually worked with vellum. I’ve only tried acetate and I’ve enjoyed that medium. I think you did a great job with the photography! The card is beautiful - very delicate looking.
*in awe of its beauty* WOW! This is absolutely gorgeous!!! My jaw is still on the floor! Thank you for showing us this, what a wonderful way to use vellum card stock…I tend to forget how beautiful it can be! *AWESOME*!!!
Just gorgeous! I have some vellum overlays-wonder if they would work-will put that on my list of “want to do’s”.
This is so soft and beautiful! So lovely!!
This is beautiful. I have only just tried out that idea myself but instead of vellum I used parchment as it is so much firmer and stand up much better than vellum. Love the inside layer peaking through and the stitching. TFS
Your cards are so exsquisite, you really do an incredible job!
This is so lovely Julia…nicely done.
If the photo makes me go oooooooooooooooh, then I can only imagine what it must be like IRL. I think this is just gorgeous
Wowzer!! It’s absolutely stunning!!!! Perfect in so many ways!!
So beautiful, Julia! Love the subtleness of the stamped daisies and then the double punched one. Just gorgeous!
Oh this is so soft and pretty, Julia! Love the vellum card! Maybe I will do these again for Christmas this year too…hmmmmmmmmmm
I love vellum!!! It’s my new “thing”… well I haven’t stamped for awhile but when I did I was using it ALOT!!! beautiful & thanks for sharing!
Very beautiful. I love vellum but don’t use it often. I will try to make a card using vellum. Thanks for sharing.
That is LOVELY! The vellum flowers are a perfect accessory: sizeable by airy.
