I couldn’t resist…

Published by Julia Stainton at 10:21 am under Card Designs, Challenges

I couldn’t resist doing today’s Technique Lover’s challenge! TLC133 - Gamsol and Colored Pencils so much fun. I had finally found my Gamsol and blending stubs over the weekend and so I decided to pair them up with this darling Boatlaods of Love stamp set. I can’t believe I’ve had this set since July and this is the first opportunity I’ve had to ink it up! It is soooo cute!

For this design I stamped my ship, clouds and sentiment in Palette Hybrid black in and then went to work coloring away with my pencils. Gamsol was great for blending it all together and getting a smooth, colored look.

For my design, i layered my 5.5″ Blue Bayou card base with my brand new Cosmo Cricket Little Boys paper collection. It is so darling i just love it. The 8×8 size is fabulous for cardmaking and it is so flexible…it doesn’t just need to be used for little boy card designs.

To highlight my sentiment, I added a label holder frame from SU’s Hodgepodge Hardware set and tied a ribbon to the top to tie in with my dotted red paper. To add more metal and dimension to the design, I added a little gold brad to the top of the ship and LOTS of eyelets along the bottom edge. I love all the circles..they seem to go so well with the portholes and life preservers on the ship. Lastly, I added some fun zig zag stitching in brown thread to the top of the design. Lot of fun…but now…I REALLY need to get back to work! :) Hope you enjoyed my very unscheduled break.

Julie, I am so happy. I had e-mailed you several months previously that I couldn’t read the print on your blog! I had fused so much about this that my hubby figured out a way for me to read the print (I think this happens on AOL — Read Trudee’s blog!). Anyway at the topy of any page you are trying to read go to view, then down to text size, and click on the print that is bigger than you are using. My computer is set on smaller and I click on medium and can read the blogs! This is so great! So anyway, I am back reading yours, Trudee’s, Jackson Belle, etc. Thought you would like to know and BTW I love your current cards!
