World Cardmaking Day…a countdown…

Can you believe it? The 1st annual World Cardmaking Day is only 4 weeks away! That’s right…just 28 more days! Do you have it on your calendar? Are you doing something special? I know that there are lots of cool events planned in various places so get involved and have some fun. You can check out the World Cardmaking Day website for some great ideas on how to join in on the fun.

While you are there check out the About page… what exactly IS World Cardmaking Day anyways? Under Celebrate…check out participating retailers that have events lined up (click on participating retailers on left side). Also check out the on-line Create Gallery with some card ideas for you by the sponsors as well as instructions for them all. Lizzie Anne Designs has some projects for you at the following link. I was excited to have the opportunity to design one of them. 🙂 Above all…get involved! Share some of your own creations in their Creation Corner Gallery. Have fun!

Simply Saturday…everythings coming up daisies…

Clean and simple…I wanted to try out a different style for this design. Step out of my box. I’ve always admired designers who can pull it off…a cool card with a minimum of elements. Not sure if I managed it but it was worth a try! LOL

Simple Daisy Dots Birthday

I love crisp, clean white cardstock! It is so fresh. Why don’t I use it more?! I pulled this card together with the little scrap of dotted patterned paper on my desk. I love the bright fun look. It is quite a bright fushia/red color and ties in perfectly with this darling May Arts ribbon so I paired them together. I still needed a a few more colors for my combo so I pulled out the Certainly Celery and Soft Sky to cool things down a little.

Using my Soft Sky cardstock scrap, I spiral tab punched the top edge and then stamped “for my friend” on it…a stamp from the Lizzie Anne Designs Simply Sentiments set…one of my faves. The daisy stamp from Daisy Dots stamp set is also one of my faves…actually there are two. I stamped the solid daisy in Certainly Celery onto whisper white cardstock adn the trimmed it out. To overlap it…I decided to go with a birthday theme and have some fun with the round birthday sentiment from Simply Sentiments.

After tying on the May Arts ribbon through a set eyelet…the design still needed one last touch. I decided to rely on my old stand-by…my sewing machine. I carefully stitched around the flower for a fun look. Sometimes all you need on a simple design is that one touch of something a little unique. 🙂 Need some stitching tips? Check out my Machine Stitching Tutorial. 🙂

Have yourself a very happy Saturday. Wishing you one that is SIMPLY the best! 🙂
