Peace on Earth…

Peace…it is such a beautiful word! I love the thought of it all year round but there always seems to be an extra cry for peace during the bustle of Christmas. I always like to tie it in as well with Christmas cards…remembering the birth of the Prince of Peace. One of the latest releases from Flourishes, Peace, is a beautiful sentiment with a dove worked into the scroll of the sentiment. The peace sentiment comes in two sizes, along with two coordinating sentiments in a beautiful script. I love how well they work for the outside or inside of a Christmas design. Two more stamp sets from Flourishes were also released at the same time… O Christmas Tree and Fantasy Floral Garden…make sure you stop by Flourishes and check them out! I’ll be sharing designs from those sets with you in the upcoming weeks. ๐Ÿ™‚

This is a little late, but I used yesterday’s great sketch challenge to design this card. It has been so busy, I just didn’t get time to upload it until now! You can view the sketch and join in at SC140

Let There be Peace

For this design, I worked the main Peace image/sentiment into the box near the bottom of the sketch. The second script sentiment was really easy to add in below directly onto the Kraft layer…I just love how well this sketch worked with this set. My color combo for this design was Old Olive, Kraft, Blue Bayou and just a hint of red for a festive look.

The main panel layer of this design is a piece of Basic Grey Dasher paper and it was so easy to pull the color combo from there. After sponging layers with close to cocoa ink and adhering together, I added touches of stitching and my embellishments. For the main strips from the sketch that were across the main panel.. I used my Vintage Hip textured tape from Making Memories. You may remember the same dotted green from yesterdays design. I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of it in the future too as I just love it! ๐Ÿ™‚

For the main decoration on the design, I used my brand new just released Cosmo Cricked Bucknaked Ornaments Chipboard….LOL Don’t you just love the name?! ๐Ÿ™‚ How could I resist?! It is fabulous thick chipboard in wonderful Christmas shapes and super-reasonable in price. I covered my chipboard star with sponged on Blue Bayou ink and then covered it with Versamark and then some Irridescent Ice embossing powder. The sparkle is super impressive in person. To add a little extra to the design, I adhered some little pearls to the centers of some of the stylized berries on the design and then one to the center of the snowflake to tie it together.
