Take Two … Lizzie & Daisy

Published by Julia Stainton at 9:07 am under Card Designs, Challenges, Lizzie Anne Designs

It’s been a while! Quite a long time since a few of my friends and I have done a Take Two challenge! And so, we decided to have a little fun and give it another whirl. This time Lizzie Anne Designs stamps gets paired up with Daisy D’s patterned paper. I love them both so this was a super fun challenge! I can’t wait to see what Lindsey, Michele & Trudee have come up with too! Make sure you take a peek at their blogs!

I felt like going for an Autumn look for today’s card design so I pulled out my Daisy D’s swatches again. I just love their pre-pinked edges! They are a fun, easy to use 5.5″ square size, are double-sided and come in the cutest scaled down patterns and little box. And because there was such a great response after my cards using it the other week, Jacksonbelle ordered lots more styles in. :) If you are looking for it, you can find it here.

To play with the zig zag edge on the swatches paper, I folded over the top of the paper so that you can see both sides. The Kraft cardstock card base is stamped with Lizzie Anne Designs Big Paisley stamp before adhering the paper down.

For my main image, I stamped the Sunflower stamp three times onto patterned paper…once on the soft yellow and twice onto the red. The sunflower stamp is part of Lizzie Anne designs Simply Singles stamps. This means they are available as a single stamp and are great inexpensive additions to your collection. I love the size of them and find they are really flexible to work with!

After cutting out my sunflower, I layered it onto a punched circle (Marvy Mega Size) and then after adhering it all together, I stitched around my circle on my sewing machine. When stitching around curves, make sure you stop stitching with the needle in down position, left presser foot and pivot, every few stitches. This will give you a nice even curve. to highlight the center of the flower and add more texture, I paper pierced around the flower center and then stitched it with a double stand of linen thread. Click on the below thumbnail for a close-up view. :)

To add an embellishment to this design, I broke open my new package of BIG Making Memories brads, inserted them into the card front and then tied a scrap of May Arts ribbon around them. Just about, from the Simply Sentiments set, I stamped the word friend by just inking up part of my “for my friend” stamp.

I always need thank yous so I decided to use that for a sentiment on the bottom of my card design. I stamped the sentiment onto another scrap of designer paper and then stitched it to my card front. Hope you enjoyed my Autumn version of this challenge! Have a great week!

How beautiful, Julia! Once again, I am in awe of your creativity! BTW, I printed off your tutorial on machine stitching on cards for my mom, who has started making cards recently. She made several this week, using your tutorial, and loves them!!! She did say she forgot to check the bobbin, as you recommended, & ran out, so ended up with just piercing, which she likes also. Thank you!
