Simply Saturday … A Paisley Hello

Published by Julia Stainton at 8:54 am under Card Designs

It is Simply Saturday again and today I’m sharing an easy card design. Using patterned paper makes a great jumping off point and combined with a simple layout and a few extra touches makes a quick card…perfect for saying hello.

Paisley Hello

For this design, I started off with my favorite 5″ square card base in Chocolate Chip. I just love the colors and pattern of this Tres Jolie My Mind’s Eye paper and cut a smaller square and sponged the edges before adhering to the paper. Soft Sky coordinates really well (even better in person) and I stamped my favorite Jolies Fleurs flower stamp on the corner of the panel. The image was watercolored using my Aquapainter and then the sentiment stamp from Simply Sentiments was stamped in the upper right.

Quick Tip: Try stamping only part of the image for a different look. Images don’t always have to be centered smack in the middle of the design…change it up a little.

A couple quick touches make this card a little more special. I just ADORE these corduroy brads from Imaginesce. The warmth and texture is fabulous. I also added a quick touch of machine stitching to help add texture and balance to the design. The stitching is down the right side of the image panel and a little corner stitching at the top left. As with image stamping…mix up the stitching a little. You don’t always have to stitch around the complete square or rectangle…try just adding a quick touch of it to highlight an area. :)

Have a very happy summer Saturday! I’m off to splash in the lake…it is so super hot here, I can’t wait!

I love this colour combo and I love your tip to stamp just a part of an image for a change…hmmm. I will be looking at my stamps from a different perspective.
