I thought after yesterday’s cool wintery card, I’d get back to my more seasonal beach theme! I love shells and this Shore Thoughts stamp set by Lizzie Anne Designs is no exception! The sentiments that go with this set are just darling! It is pretty hot here the past few days, mid-90’s but it is the humidity that gets you. I’m hiding out in my air-conditioning but I’d trade it in a minute for a day at the shore. 🙂
I decided to pair up a couple of the new cardstock colors for this design, Soft Sky (again! LOL) and Groovy Guava. I don’t usually pair up complimentary colors and the color wheel but I like the warmth the orange tones bring to the blue. I stamped the bottom half of this design first. The long wave stamp makes a great background and is so easy to line up with a clear mounting block. For those of you who don’t know, Lizzie Anne Designs stamps are unmounted rubber. They come pre-cut with a cling mount back and are ready to roll from their cool CD case packaging. I love how the rubber gives a really crisp image and the clear block makes it really easy to line up.
For the top of the design, I masked off the lower area and then stamped my shells in black ink. After watercoloring with Soft Sky and Groovy Guava, I highlighted the images with my Sakura glitter pen to add a little sparkle. I then stamped the fun sentiment at the bottom. I pulled out this darling twill/shell border from my stash to add a little fun and texture to the design. I first purchased this at Wal-mart for Dirty Dozen design last summer. It is so much fun to get some more use out if it. 🙂
Quick Tip: When watercoloring, let your image dry and then go back and add a little more definition where you need it with added ink.
