Lifesaver…. A Simple Saturday Design

I just LOVE this lifeguard chair from A Muse Artstamps! So clean, so crisp…the stamp gives a perfect image. I was trying to decide how to color this chair when I realized….I didn’t need to color it at all! I’d color around the image…just the negative space. Such a simple idea….why did I not think of it before?!

Lifesaver!

When I saw this paper from the Daisy D’s collection…. I knew I wanted to use it for a beach themed design. Don’t you love papers that are flexible that way?! Part of a little boy set but I’ve made quite a few cards with this line already (stay tuned for more to come!  😉 ) This red and white striped paper is one of my favorites and just screams beach to me. Speaking of beach….I’m off to the beach again today! YAY!

To add a little something to my clean and simple design, I scored the front panel about 3/4″ from the hinge and then creased it back. Into the little hinge, I set five white eyelets with my Crop-a-dile. After matting my main image, I stitched around the layers for definition and then added a little blue striped ribbon for a “flag” embellishment to pick up the hint of Soft Sky blue that I watercolored with.

Quick Tip: To evenly space your eyelets…prick a dot in the center of where you want your middle eyelet to go. Work out from there by marking in even increments. I use the Stampin Up Mat Pack and on this design, used every third hole in their eyelet spacer guide.

I just love the sentiment on this! The font is so crisp and clean and small…perfect for tucking into the design. I think I may be getting seriously addicted to these stamps! I’m not quite sure who I’m giving this card to. I’ve had many “lifesavers” in my life lately. It is so nice to “get by with a little help from my friends”!

Wishing you a very safe and happy summer Saturday, my friends! 🙂 Check back in tomorrow for a {C’est Bon} article on one of my favorite new must-have tools.
