Seashells…

Seashells…..I just adore them! So beautiful, so unique! We don’t find many shells on the shores of Lake Huron but we do have a lovely collection from our trip out to the East Coast a few years ago. Hmmmm….I’m thinking it is time for another one! I’ve been wanting to try out this gorgeous new stamp set from Lizzie Anne Designs. I know I’m going to have so much fun with it…it is perfect for so many occasions (gotta love those sentiments) and I love sets that work really well for masculine designs as well!

Unique Shell

This card design is for SC131. Simple but beautiful layout and so flexible! After a crazy morning and another trip to the ER (this time my 2YO managed to get into a Windex bottle just as I arrived home and he needed checked, sigh….he is find though!) I’m finally getting the rest of this entry written up! I just had to use my Daisy D paper again! I’ve been absolutley loving it and you will be seeing it a lot in the next week or two with some designs I been working on. 🙂 I sponged the edges of it with Chocolate Chip ink. I noticed that the polka dots were a perfect size to stamp the little funky design from the Shore Thoughts stamp set into. So fun! After stamping and gluing, I just had to add a little stitching. I always love its subtle look and it is always a perfect touch with a simple layout! I also decided it would work really well if I stamped some starfish in Bordering Blue down the side of my striped patterned paper.

Quick Tip: When stamping on patterned paper…try it out on a scrap first. Some inks work better than others and you’ll want to see how it looks before you commit to stamping on your actual design.

For the main image, I stamped the shell onto a small scrap of white Bazzil Basics cardstock I had leftover from another project. I love the added texture. I’m predicting that the new textured Stampin Up cardstock will be a huge hit. I haven’t ordered any yet but hope to next month. After sponging the edges and matting in Buckaroo Blue, I added a larger mat of whisper white cardstock and then distressed the edges with my distressing tool. I love beach-style cards with distressing! To further add texture, I set two little pewter eyelets into my image pane and then tied them with linen thread. I’m a girl that likes texture on my designs! 🙂 This card makes me want to head back to the beach. I think I need to unwind again! It is not even noon and I am stressed!
